I am thinking of opening up a Savings Account with USAA, and then apply for their Secured Card. However, I do have an entry on ChexSystems I have not paid off yet. Will USAA open a Savings with an entry on Chex? Also, do they have a minimum score for opening a Savings Account?

You can open a checking and or savings account with them since they don't pull Chex but they do pull EWS...FYI you do need to be a full member to be able to apply for a secured card.

Thanks... I don't think I have anything in EWS. I believe I am a full member, as I received membership through my dad who was military.

Then you would be a full member. They are a good bank to have credit with.

- I am not a full member

- I have both checking and savings

- I have "Account Abuse" on Chex that is still unpaid w/ BofA

- That same item is listed on my EWS report

- I also have another item on my EWS report

- Nothing on my EWS report (nor Chex) is with USAA

- At the time of applying for accounts, my EWS and Chex items were just a little over 3 years old

I've had the USAA checking and savings account open for about 10 months now with ZERO problems. They've even helped me on 3 separate ocassions to reverse some automatic drafts and put money back in my account in less than 24hrs each time.

Great bank. If only Big Banks like BofA were like this...

I just opened a USAA checking account with hubby. I used to be on EWS (but I am not sure how long ago that was) and I'm not really sure about hubby. Right now I am just depositing the minimum to see if they might close it. We just got our debit cards in the mail. I remember a few years ago 5th 3rd closed me immediately for a business account, took over a month to give me my deposit back and then wanted to subtract account maintenance fees after they closed the account immediately. I reported then to BBB and eventually got all my money back.

I have fingers crossed that we can keep this account. My favorite prepaid card account decided to start charging monthly fees so we switched to Bluebird but I can't pay all my bills online with BB. We get paid on the 1st and I pay all bills on that day so billpay wouldn't help either.

I'll keep this thread posted if anything happens.

I joined just before they terminated the open/partial membership option. There was no hard inquiry or Chex for opening a savings and checking.

I applied for their World MasterCard last summer. I was approved (800+ FICO). They hard pulled Equifax for that.

Good luck.
