I got an unlisted call on my way home today. I answered it, because thanks to CB that's how I roll. It's Amex, they want a 4506T for my new Platinum card. The one I don't HAVE yet.

I get the rest of the way home and sure enough there's a shiny box waiting. Along with the 4506T in the email.

The TIMING omg.

She seemed kind of nice about it, she went out of her way unprompted to tell me that I do qualify and they aren't trying to take it from me, they just need to "manage the account" properly so I can't charge more than I can handle.

How epic will it be if I have a Plat with a hard $200 limit? How they gonna fit the AF on there?

Oh yeah, the other shady part is, they called both my work phone and cell phone the other day (you know, the numbers I provided on the app) to tell me I was approved. But guess where they called first to try to get a hold of me for this? That's right, Bob's place. Roger that loud and clear good buddy, 10-4 over and out.

It means WE will manage your account - declined purchases, small credit limit etc etc

We have straight up angered the gods.

So what's with that weird pep talk about managing the account? Did anyone else get that?

I don't get it, are you an AU on his card and that's why they had his number? They had me 'confirm my address' which at the time was his since I hadn't changed it yet. Thankfully I have a photographic memory and spewed it out like I've been living there my whole life.

No, but I have some other mythical creatures, ten times cooler than dragons.

I need to watch that movie

No, you don't, I thought there was WAY too much gratuitous sexual violence.

I'm sorry to hear this. I know F/Rs can be a pain, especially since you just got your new card and have not even had a chance to use it yet. :(

Depending on how far back they go, it should not take too long for them to complete it. Good luck!

They asked for 2009 and 2010. I told her that I only filed 2010 last week so I hoped she would be able to get it, and she said that was the only reason they were asking for 2009 as well because they would use it if 2010 were not yet available.

But yeah, I hold in my hand an awfully shiny card that seems just as unattainable now as it ever was. :D

Yes.

Why? What the heck is AMEX doing? I barely even use my two AMEX cards as they've completely lost their luster. Every day that I log into my account, I expect to see some kind of crap message from them. UGH!
