I found a service at: www.callture.com that is only $9.95 a month and they even provide a voice message service along with the phone number at no extra charge I believe.

Before I sign up with this service I would like to find out if the number they give me will be accepted by the 411 listing. How do I do this?

How to Get Listed in the White Pages and in Directory Assistance

So how does one get a business white pages listing and how does one get a business listed in Directory Assistance?

Here are four quick and easy things to do to get a business phone listing.

First, go to the List Yourself website (http://www.listyourself.net/). This site bills itself as "The Listing Service for the Unlisted" and while it appears to be a very simple site, many small business owners have told us that it has worked for them. However, some have not been successful with this service and others have had to enter their information multiple times before it worked. Still, it's a free service so it's worth a try.

Second, go to SuperPages (http://www.superpages.com/) and register your business for a free listing. You will find the "FREE Listing" link on the left nav on the home page.

Third, you can contact Verizon Wireless at 1-800 722-0577 and ask for a "foreign listing" - you don't actually have to have a Verizon number to get into their wireless 411 directory. There is a one-time $9 fee and a $1.12 monthly charge.

Fourth, you can call your local 411, ask for your listing and then when you are told that there is no such business listing, tell them you are the owner of the business and ask them how to get listed. In the worst case, you can a new number with your local phone company and have it forward to your other numbers. It costs money but it might be worth it.

411 information tends to propagate so getting into one 411 directory may be sufficient. Have a 411 listing and being in the various online 411 directories (e.g. whitepages.com) doesn't ensure that you will be in the printed White Listings directory. For that, you will need to call the company that puts out the White Pages.

As you move forward to get a business number listed in the White Pages and 411 Directory Assistance, be careful what you wish for. Once you do get listed, you'll tend to get a lot of inquiry calls from people trying to sell you stuff.

Hopefully, the number of calls from prospective customers will far outweigh the calls from telemarketers. But, importantly, if you want to build up your business credit profile, getting listed is an absolute necessity.

A landline phone number is required and should be registered in the name of the company and its address.

Definition below:

landline = a telephone line that travels over terrestrial circuits; "a land line can be wire or fiber optics or microwave"

Ask yourself: Do the numbers callture.com and magicjack.com give you come under the above definition?

Who/what required the landline telephone? The creditors or the 411, etc?

When you apply of credit with someone, there is procedure that is followed to verify your business, one of which is verifying the applicant in in the 411.

RJG, feel free to post any questions you have. There are lots of people on CB that can help, we all had to start from the same place. :(

Is there a current list on what order to go in for all of this?

Using the reply above for "How to Get Listed in the White Pages and in Directory Assistance", do I do this?? Is this the easiest/cheapest way to do this?

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND GETTING LISTED IN GOOGLE? If so, here is how to do it.

http://www.chiefingredient.com/2009/01/goo...-to-get-listed/

Ok, how do I get listed?

Go to the Google Local Business Center and login or create a Google account.

https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogi...en-US&gl=US

Fill out as much information as you feel comfortable with.

Remember, the more information your potential clients can access before they move on to your competitor’s listing, the better chance you have of securing that business

Upload images of your location and your logo.

Include your hours and the types of payments you access.

Once you complete your listing information, Google will call you and all you enter a pin code they give you to verify this is your number and business.

Once your company is listed in the Google Local Business Center it will also be available in Google Maps, and 1-800-goog-411.

GETTING YOUR CELL PHONE IN 411

We had our landline and fax numbers with Sunrocket who went under, we are currently with TeleBlend. Set up the 411 with Verizon Foreign Listing, I did a whole post on this once. Foreign Listing is the way to go. It's in 411 in 48 hours and the monthly bill is only $2.25. Planning on switching from Teleblend phone service to Ooma, no monthly phone bill after I do that... If you want to read up on Ooma, they have a website, and there are a lot of reviews on amazon.

******************************************************************

I DID THIS BUT FOUR DAYS LATER IT WAS NOT IN THE COMCAST 411 EVEN

THOUGH LIST YOURSELF TOLD ME MY BUSINESS NUMBER WAS ADDED TO

THE 411 NATIONAL DATABASE. DO I HAVE TO WAIT LONGER WHILE IT PROPOGATES?

*******************************************************************

Second, go to SuperPages (http://www.superpages.com/) and register your business for a free listing. You will find the "FREE Listing" link on the left nav on the home page.

********************************************************************

WOULD YOU VETERANS RECOMMEND THIS? WOULD MY BUSINESS NUMBER

GET A LOT OF TELEMARKETERS? WOULD THE SUPERPAGES GIVE ME A LOT

OF FREE ADVERTISING JUST BY HAVING MY NUMBER IN THE SUPER PAGES?

********************************************************************

Third, you can contact Verizon Wireless at 1-800 722-0577 and ask for a "foreign listing" - you don't actually have to have a Verizon number to get into their wireless 411 directory. There is a one-time $9 fee and a $1.12 monthly charge.

SOMEONE JUST ABOVE ON THIS THREAD RECOMMENDED THIS AS IT WORKED

FOR HIM. I WILL TRY THIS TOMMORROW AND SEE IF IT IS LISTED BY NEXT

MONDAY IN COMCAST 411. IS THIS VERIZON FOREIGN LISTING REALLY GOOD?

I listed my new business number with them also and it was not in the comcast directory within 48 hours. So I contacted listyourself.net and told them and they sent me this:

"I'm sorry you are having trouble. Your number is in the national directory

assistance directory used by carrier call centers. It should be available

on your VoIP phone as well as your cell phone. Wireline carriers can take

a longer time to incorporate the listings, so you have to be patient with

them."

So, I am going to wait a month before listing my number with verizon who told me that sometimes it takes one month for your number to get into all the 411 directories when you list it with their service. Why should I pay when I can patiently wait for it to get into all the directories through the free service of listyourself.net

I know it has not quite been a month, but have you had any success with your business number being listed in 411?

Aint this the truth. I get atleast 5 calls a day from brokers wanting to sell me stock picks. Not to mention all the SEO companies and all the premium phone book advertising calls.

Some options we've used:

Local Phone Company (AT&T for example)

Telebranch Number - Virtual number that you setup to either forward to another number, or forward directly into a voice mail box. **It is listed with local 411 services. ($49-69/mo)

Cloud-Based Services -

Evoice Receptionist - Virtual toll free number with optional multiple mailboxes. You go online and configure each mailbox to forward to another number - or directly into voice mail. The system sends voice mail messages as audio files to your e-mail In Box. ($29-39 / mo) www.evoicereceptionist.com

Google Voice - Free local number that you setup to forward to another number or go directly to voice mail. Mail messages are forwarded to your e-mail In Box. (No charge) www.google.com/voice

With the cloud services, you can use Verizon 411 <1-800 722-0577> to get what's called a local "foreign listing". They will list your number for around 4.50/mo. I tried Listyourself, however, I could never get a listing in local 411, which is important for establishing serious financial relationships.

I would use reachme.com. They can put you in 411. For a price. They can get into the AT&T data base. They worked great for me.

How much do they charge per month for their services ?

I have used both of these: kall8.com and accessline.biz

Do these companies report to 411 or where you just saying that you have used them in the past?
