 Apparently someone tried to use my debit card and NFCU shut em down quick. DH and I went out to breakfast this morning and my card was declined. I had a message on my phone from NFCU saying to give them a call in reference to my debit card. $15.75 Touch tone(authorized) Pick-a-book (declined) from GB-rep thinks this is Great Britian  I am on the phone with them now going over everything....... new card/ new pin #/fraud affidavit form. I have to commend Navy on their fast reaction time but at the same time it is so scary to have someone take some money you have worked so hard for. I ordered a book 1/11/08 on half.com and I think that my info probably was compromised there so be aware of online purchases. I will be looking into a virtual card to make online purchases this is just Krazy!!!!!!!! All is well though just have to wait on new debit card. I will be inconvenienced because I now have to go to the branch to get money. Thought I would let everyone know that Navy is good for more than generous CL's their security is top notch.

Sorry jazzy, but good thing it was handled immediately. But I'm curious as to why you're using a debit card for breakfast out instead of your cc ;)

There was a thread on CJ's security yesterday - i'll try to find it and bump it for you guys.

Wait, OP - are you SURE that charge wasn't from the half.com seller? They could very well be located in Great Britain, and the name of the company that ships it could be pick-a-book. Half.com isn't like a normal store - each book is sold by an individual seller. (If you already knew this, disregard, it just seems like a weird coincidence that you bought a book and have this charge from a book place. :cry2:)

sorry OP this happened - just curious but whats the issue with CJ and payment via debit cards

Just noticing a rash recently of stolen SS numbers with newly opened etrade accounts as well as both credit or debit numbers stolen from folks on this site. Including one of my CC numbers being cloned and used.

Right now every single person who has reported this recent theft has a CJ account and they used that card as a method to pay the account. Also the etrade thing seems to be based on SS numbers...again from the nonsecure CJ site.

I told CS I would call right back let me check the name of the seller for half.com and the name was shipping spree llc and they were locates in Washington State. Half.com had already been paid as well a couple of days ago and this charge came in around 6 am this morning. I think it came from crown it's just crazy that so many of us who has paid crown have had a security breach. Makes you wander why EQ dropped them.

if you paid the accts with paypal, they probably did not get the number from either CJ or Half.com. Or paypal. It was compromised by another method.

if you used it to pay the dp at crown, then yeah it probably came from crown. Check your bank records to verify how you paid the dp.

Weird, that happened to me on Sunday as well! I paid CJ with a check, though, sent by NFCU's web bill pay . . . I had $1,000 charged to my NFCU check card, someone bought themselves plane tickets on an Italian web site courtesy of me and my hard earned money! NFCU called me though asking if I did that, and I said no, two of the charges clared today so I can file an affadavit, hopefully the other clears tomorrow so I can file that one too. Plus I got $6 in international fees!
