I'm looking to puchase a used car soon, although I haven't decided on the particular model yet, I do know that I want some kind of economy car (Corolla, Echo, Mazda Protege, Civic, etc.). I have a Capital One Loan coming to me in the amount of $7500. What I want to know is, let's say the car I want to buy is $10,000, can I put the remainder on a credit card? I'll be able to pay off the card relatively quickly, my main question is will this be okay with the dealer?

It depends on the dealership, but when I got my car years ago I had them charge a $1000 down payment to my Mastercard.

The dealer I just dealt with wouldn't take anything over $2000. Call them and find out. What I did was to use CC checks. Try a 0% card or rewards.

Most places will gladly let you charge up to the full price of the car, if you have the limit for it. The ones that have a limit will probably bend that policy if it means they'll lose the deal otherwise. It may be best not to mention you'll be using a CC until after everything is complete and it is time to pay the down payment.

AMEN to THAT. Save it for the very last

Depends on the dealer. Some let you do it, some let you do it up to a certain amount. The problem is, they have to pay a certain percentage of charges to the company that runs their credit cards....they often times lose 2-3% on CC transactions.

Good point. I'd didn't even think of that. That probably explains why some put a cap on how much.
