Good question. I will be curious as well as I will be the one to implement changes like this at my business.

I wondered the same thing when I first read it. Me thinks we should expect an updated merchant agreement that will address this.

Isn't this already a policy for Visa/MC/Amex?

 

I know I haven't needed to sign anything under $25 at the self service check outs at my grocery store for at least two years now.

Will this apply to ALL merchants or just those that opt in? Right now some places (Walgreens, CVS*, McDonalds, Starbucks) don't require signature under $25 (*$50 @ CVS)).

 

If Visa starts requiring all merchants to waive signature under $25, that is a great idea -- as long as the stores don't think that that in lieu of a signature they can check ID.

Haven't had to sign at Starbucks, McDonalds, Wendys, etc., for quite some time now...
