Close it - open a secured card.
-
Yes finally! Congrats.
-
Call them and tell them you applied 7 days ago. They'll process it over the phone. That's what they did with me and I got my NFCU debit card today.
-
I also got a denial but I am working on a secured card with them.
-
When did you submit?
-
Got into NFCU but denied for Rewards...Oh well, I'm happy AF that I got in. Just an FYI, I send the docs last Wednesday and I called in today and seems like nobody looked into it. The sweet lady was on the phone talked to another rep to process my application and 5 minutes later, I'm in. So happy, need to open a secure CC with them.

Why not try Citi? -
Hey how are you? I work for a 4 star very luxurious hotel (top 15 hotel out of 300+ in Chicago) as an accountant and I'll give my take on this. All hotels have different policies on how they want to handle this. In your case if you were to stay at my hotel, you could either do a debit card, credit card, or cash deposit for your incidentals. We ALWAYS recommend using a credit card. When your credit card is on hold, and once you check out, the hotel releases the authorization and it takes the credit card company 1-3 business days to release the hold. (normally one day) Debit cards are a whole different animal. We'll authorize the same amount but the hold can last up to 7 business days. It is up to the bank to release that hold. (normally, the bank will ask the hotel to send a letter with the CC number, authorization number, date of authorization, etc... and they will release right away.) Cash, I believe we take 250.00 per day for deposit. As for the comments you received from the hotel...that is absolute Geronimo . I would love to find out which chain that is, because in this industry, it is all about customer service, and making the guest feel as comfortable as they can. It is absolutely unheard of to tell a guest to seek a different hotel (unless you destroyed that room or were an absolute unbearable to work with) and I would bring that up with their corporate office. (might get a free night at a hotel of your choice out of it)

Yes ! I have the Income. Works full time almost a year now. I,ve been here in past ( forum ) and read about obtain secured cards to start but never move foward to apply for credit I think this is the time and I want to do the right way If you can prove your income, you do not need to apply for a Secured credit card. With your income you should be able to obtain any credit card without a guarantor signature. It may be a little difficult, considering your age, but, not impossible. You would have to provide proof of income. Good luck. When I was younger, about your age, I applied for a CITI card. I was young and naive, on the application it asked for household income, so I naturally included the wages of all my family members, I was never asked to verify that, but that was a long time ago. In any case, I think citi and bank of america are friendly to young folks who have not yet established a credit history. If financing a car is your only concern, most dealers will find you a lender, as long as you have some income, however the interest rates and terms may not be pleasant. Thats exactly what I did when I was 18 with Citi.

2.8 years and my FICO Score is around 735 last time I checked. Well then you definitely don't want to close any of your accounts. Keep them and sock drawer them like someone else said. Put a reminder on your cell phone or calendar to use them at least once every 5 or 6 months to keep them active. By the time you apply for your mortgage, your limits and your score will be higher. Thank you!

Would it really make that major impact on closing my condo? If thats the case, I'll just keep them open and let them all go dormant.
