  1. what is the year of the car, the model, and the price you paid for it?
  2. I'm with Kevin on this one. You are 45 yeas old and will have, in essence, nothing in retirement. No way you should do this. An education is fine, but you will probably accrue school loans there, too. This just has disaster written all over it. Get a part time job or something to pay the cards off. If this was a medical emergency, then yeah, maybe cash out, but other than that......don't do it.
  3. College can be one of the biggest money making rackets out there now. Tuition rates have just soared----only because they know they can collect it. People are too afraid to not have their degree any more, and if you want to sell a product, sell it in fear. Fear is our greatest motivator. It's funny. At my own university, there are a lot of buildings there, and if you walk through them, at just about any time, about 60% of the classrooms are empty. There is so much waste and spending on college a campuses and no one seems to care. When I first started school at my public university, several years ago, you could pay for tuition by working at walmart for one month. You'd probably have to work at walmart for a year to pay for the tuition now. It's gotten crazy.
  4. Every person on there looked just like you think a slimey debt collector would look, especially those ones hanging out after work in the parking lot. Sometimes there is a reason that stereotypes are stereotypes.
  5. I was trying to order a mp3 satelite radio from XM radio. I call up to get the price and so forth. It's some foreign operator that I cannot even understand. I hang up and figure I'll try back again later. A couple of days later I call them up again. Same exact thing. Since this is a huge pet peeve of mine, I decide to email XM radio. I send them something like this: Just wanted to let you all know that I was intending to order a 280 dollar product from you, along with another account, so that I could use the product. However, I have decided not to order the product and felt that you needed to know why. I tried twice to speak to someone at your company and both times I could not understand the CSR because of their dialect being too thick and their not quite understanding the questions I was asking. My complaint is not due to your hiring foreign workers. My complaint is due to you not hiring workers that understand what I am asking and my not understanding what they are saying. I hope that, in the near future, you consider these issues when you employ people. I get this letter back from them: Thank you for your concerns about blah, blah, blah. We are asking that you call again (giving me a special number) and we will give you the product you want at an additional discount. And then I look at the signature and it was signed something like this: Sincerely, Swaraj
  6. If I had panicked months ago, when everyone was telling me not to panic, I would be thousands of dollars better off than I am now.
  7. you really should do a blog about this, George. You could call it, "Furious George makes a blog."
  8. Let me see if I can get this straight........ 1) Dog kills child, but it isn't the dog's fault, because it's the parent's fault? 2) All dogs bite, so dogs that kill are no different than dogs that bite? 3) The dog wasn't angry. I'd sure as hell hate to see him angry. Ooooooooookay
  9. After chewing up a three year old, I'm guessing he had dealt with his anger.
  10. funny how you rarely ever see how a poodle maimed someone to death like this. Why they allow dogs like this in the city, I will never know. And then out comes all the "it ain't the dog, it's the people who train/don't train them" crowd.
  11. People know they are unclean and people know they are slobs. The thing is....they just don't care any more. Hell, I see people applying for JOBS who look like they wouldn't put forth the effort to iron a shirt. Why are they like this? Because they can be. When I was a kid, if we went to the doctor, you dressed up like you were going to church. Those days are long gone. People go to their doctor's without even thinking about taking a bath. It's truly amazing. Have you been in a waiting room lately? Guess what most of them are now. Child proof. Instead of modifying behavior, just make the rooms where you can't damage them. It used to be that parents made their kids mind and be behaved, but we can't have any of that, because that could be harmful to a child's self-esteem, and also, it's just a lot of work to make your kids behave AND keep them clean. People know they are lazy and they know they don't have to clean up. They are lazy, not stupid. We have very few expectations for people any more.
  12. Kinda neat, but you owe me now for having that ****** viva las vegas song stuck in my head. EDIT: Removed profanity
  13. dizziness? you didn't mention that before. Definitely take some antihistamines, and get to a doctor on Monday. Although the midol might help some too since it has a diuretic in it. Just an FYI, not all Midol has a diuretic in it. Alot of the Midol products are ibuprofen, acetaminophen (generic tylenol) or naproxen. Also, a diuretic isn't really going to be helpful for a plugged ear or fluid in the ear. Dizziness could very well be related to the fluid level in someones ear, but also has many other possibilities and taking a diuretic could make things worse if the cause were say...dehydration (I am not at all implying that this is what is going on with OP). To MDW, I hope you feel better very soon. I have had many ear infections from birth on and I feel for you and the pain you say you are having. If it persists or you do not feel like the meds your Dr. gave you are helping give his/her office a call. He/she may want to see you again. Well, all I know is that the docs at Mayo Clinic and Shands Gainsville ENT departments have been Rxing me diuretics for excess fluid in my ears for 20 years now......I've always presumed they knew what they were doing. Your inner ear is supposed to have fluid in it. They are probably prescribing it for fluid pressure variations, such as Meniere's or something like that. The middle ear is not supposed to have any fluid in it. I would guess that the two of you are being treated for two different illnesses.
  14. Have anyone here tried this out? Is this today's cutting age of medicine, or is this nothing more than voodoo and snake oil?
  15. even more so, congratulations on having zero debt on a 90k year income. Good deal.
