  1. I have never been able to use the pre-approval to increase my TL (Cash Rewards that gives 5% in gas). When I try to do it, I get a message that says that I will earn 3% in cash... apparently accepting the offer changes my cash rewards card terms... Maybe the only way to get a higher CL is getting a hard pull.
  2. My Fico 3B Ultimate just alerted me today, a $400 increase in total balances (this approximately 0.3% total debt and it's coming from 1 card only) boosted my score from 37 points from 764 to 801 on TransUnion. Also, from 770 to 795 on Experian. I have a clean report, I just had no debt the previous month. Interesting...
  3. Hello, I recently managed to fixed a problem (a paid medical collection) that appeared on my reports due to a wrong billing address. Thus, I didn't know about this debt and it was sent to collections (IC System). Now after lots of work, IC System agreed to remove/delete it from all credit bureaus (I even got a letter from them about this) and so far I have had it removed from Experian and Equifax, however, it still is on Transunion where it is reported as closed and with the following remark: "Dispute resolved; reported by grantor". Could you please tell me what this means and how to solve this issue? Is it just a temporary stage before it gets fully removed from Transunion? I need this collection to be completed removed not just to be closed and with that remark. Thank you!
  4. I got Fico Ultimate 3B after this problem started. Today my Fico Experian score has gone up 76 points but it does not tell me if the collection has been removed from the report. Only thing that has been reported is that my total credit card balances are now down to $0 from about $1000 which has made Transunion and Equifax gone down more than 10 points; however, this would definitely not produce a 76 point jump on Experian... apparently, it has been removed from Experian already but Fico Ultimate 3B hasn't alerted me about this change. I am expecting big jumps when the collection is deleted from Transunion and Experian.
  5. My OC is a medical practice that entered the wrong address in their system and, consequently, I never got any bills and eventually was sent to IC System with that same address and I only knew about it when it hit my reports. I talked to the OC to whom I paid directly and called IC System a lot of times last month and, finally, I sent them an email explaining my case and that due to the address reason (OC's fault) it had to be deleted. Five days after my email, they sent me the same letter that OP received. The difference is that I had no debt anymore because, as I mentioned, I paid the OC. So I was wondering if they ever deleted the collection from his/her reports and how long after he/she received the letter confirming deletion.
  6. Hi Stepbystep, Bumping your thread here. I got a letter with the same wording from IC System today... Has your collection been removed from your reports already? If so, how long after the date on the letter? Thank you!
  7. Thanks all for your help and advise. I am confuse about what way to go. I did not know that paying a debt would cause such a big issue for me to get this unfair collection deleted from my reports because after all I had to pay it (just that I did not know it existed due to their mistake filing my postal address). I understand (correct me if I am mistake) that the HIPPA route relies on not knowing I was trying to be contacted by the OC and later by the CA. This is not like that anymore because after contacting them I was informed by them but they got to know they had a wrong address. So am I left only with the option of talking to OC (the hospital) to fix this issue? What should I do with the CA? Should I also talk to them? After all they (the CA) are the ones listed in the derogatory account on my reports. Thanks again for your help.
  8. Thanks a lot Whychat and Icanhusmuny, Yes, as I stated on my first post and in good faith and because I think we always should honor our debts, I decided to go ahead and pay (with a check) the bill which on the reports appears with an original amount of $130 but with current balance of $171 (which is what I paid directly to the hospital at the same doctor's office who saw me back in March). So now that I think more calmly, I even feel like robbed because I paid a higher amount than the originally billed and all because they entered the wrong address! Although this amount is not high, the damage the doctor's office and the CA have caused to my credit is very serious. I have seen the process that Whychat suggests, will this work only in the case I hadn't paid the debt to the hospital? I gave them the check last Friday so due to the long weekend, it might be possible that they have not cashed it yet. So far, I do not see any debits (related to this check) on my checking account online yet. Also, for Icanhusmuny: I have never written a letter of this kind, if it's not too bothersome for you, could you please point me in the direction of any letter models to dispute with the CRAs that I can use for this type of case? Thanks again for your help. This type of situation is very new for me and quite worrisome because I have been taking care of my clean credit for years (to get a good mortgage) and it got spoiled by other people's mistakes. Cesar
  9. Hi Kimbachelle, Why paying the debt to the OC would make it more difficult to remove this mistake on my reports? I just want to know before I follow the next steps you mentioned on your previous post. Thanks!
  10. Dear all, Yesterday, out of curiosity I pulled my TransUnion and Equifax credit reports and found a collection from IC System (the collection company). I called them and they told me I had a debt ($171) with a health provider (hospital) from last March. Effectively, I visited that hospital in March and correctly provided all required information including SSN, address, phone number, etc. So I decided to call this collection company and the address they had on file was incorrectly spelled and, on top of that, missing my apartment number... so they told me they had several communication mail returned to them (obviously). Later on, I went to the hospital and talked to the doctor's assistant who also told me she had entered the wrong address and missed entering my apartment number so obviously I never got a bill from the hospital. I explained to her (the doctor's assistant) my concerns regarding my credit history being hurt because of an issue that was not my fault and I also paid (with a check) the bill right there. Afterwards, I called back IC System and told them that the hospital also had the wrong address and that I had paid he debt with them and since this was not my fault this collection should be completely removed from my credit reports. As I mentioned, I feel this collection issue on my reports is not my fault, what should I do next in order to have this unfair collection fully removed from the credit bureaus? Thank you so much for your help, Cesar
  11. I am running into an issue when I want to accept the offer using it as an increase on my current Platinum Cash Rewards (5% cash back in gas purchases). After I accept the offer and select that I want an increase on my card, a message tells me that among the terms and conditions my card will be getting just 3% cash back in gas purchases... If I proceed, do you guys think I will start getting only 3% or it is just a kind of standard message that won't change my 5% cash back if I accept? Maybe somebody else has had this issue. Thanks, Cesar
  12. When I did something similar, they closed the previous credit card account and they opened a new one... losing like that the credit history I already had and lowering my average age of accounts. César
  13. Thanks Shifter!
  14. I ran into this issue with the previous quarterly offers. One offer included a Visa (? Siggy) different from one I already had (Platinum Rewards). Called CSR to do a CLI, not a new card. CSR said that because of the "structure of the offer" a direct CLI was not possible. She suggested I accept the new card, not activate it, and after it posts to my account call and request a closure on that card and a transfer of the credit to my original Visa. Did that. Downside to this: Although there will be no HP, the new card will appear on your credit report along with its subsequent closure--about two weeks between dates. I have a good AAOA so this was only a minor issue for me. Thanks Beachgal! Apparently this is the way to proceed in these cases. The representative on the phone told me I got the CLI on my Cash Rewards. Now, how long after the CLI approval the new CL is reflected on the online account? César
  15. I got the offers shown below. I currently have a Visa Platinum Cash Rewards with a very low CL but I have a problem... When I accept the Cash Rewards ($8600) and ask the system to add this line as a CLI to my existing card I get this message including the number in parentheses: "NO ELIGIBLE ACCOUNT TO REFI (59876)" When I try to accept the other credit card offers it apparently works and I don't get any strange messages but thing is I don't want a new card, just a CLI. Has anybody have this issue before and solve it? I would really like to increase my limit on my existing card. Thanks! Select which offer would you like to accept.
