  1. You can download the documents from Chase's website. https://www.chase.com/chf/mortgage/keeping-your-home Click on "download/print forms" on right side of page
  2. You can still apply for MHA. I am unemployed (since last February) and have been going through hoops with Chase for a year trying to get modified. They say they will put me in the new program if I qualify. The sooner you get started, the better. Getting modified takes a looooong time. All the banks are way backed up.
  3. Google "Making home affordable" and go to the .gov site Good luck.
  4. Queenmum, any news on your mod? I'm still getting the runaround. "It's still in review", "the underwriter has it", blah, blah, blah. I couldn't make my payment this month, and I told them that several times in January. Now that I can't pay, maybe my file will get noticed. I sure hate to take a hit to my credit, but I guess I'll worry about that later. Anyway, I hope you have made some progress with yours.
  5. Not sure what you mean by "investor". I think it's a Fannie Mae loan, but I'm far from sure on that.
  6. Well, if that is the case, they should not have told me two weeks for a decision. And I haven't even been offered a trial payment. I thought that was part of the HAMP plan, but from the reports I'm reading, that's probably a good thing, because I'm not behind in payments yet, so they have no reason to foreclose right now. That will be changing when my savings account goes dry in a couple months. Also, my home is still worth more than I owe (by about $15,000). Anyone know if that is good or bad for qualifying or if it wouldn't make a difference?
  7. Just an update on mine: I've called for a status update every week for the last three weeks and I'm told it is still under review and they have all the paperwork they need. I guess it's just a waiting game for now. The underwriter has had it since the week of Thanksgiving at this point.
  8. I am also working with Chase to get my mortgage modified. I originally applied back in May or so, but didn't hear anything until August, when they asked for updated bank records, etc. They called on November 4th asking for updated records again. Then they sent a letter last week, listing what paperwork was still missing! This was the first communication I had with a telephone number to call. So I called, found out exactly what papers they needed, and I think finally the ball is rolling. They said I should have an approval or denial within two weeks, now.

    Lawyer?

I signed a contract to buy a newly built home (directly from the builder) yesterday. Since I have no real estate agent, it would probably be in my best interest to have a lawyer review the contract and be with me at closing. The sales agent offered to fax it to my lawyer, but I don't have one yet. How much should I expect to pay for this service? Is it usually a "package" deal, like one price for the whole real estate purchase, or should I expect to pay by the hour? What are any possible disadvantages to having a lawyer? Anything besides the cost? I consider myself reasonably intelligent and read (and understand) everything before I sign. Isn't that all a lawyer would do for me? Read it and say it's ok? What criteria does he/she use to determine if it's a good contract? Aren't all closings pretty standard? What if he/she does find something amiss? What happens then? Anyone have that experience? Thanks for everything...
  10. >>>with most issuers, your statement balance is reported to the CRAs (except HSBC).<<< HSBC reports the balance you are carrying at the end of the month, right? I'd better make a payment if that's the case
  11. Mine doesn't say "get a new report". It says "update report". It is directly to the right of my personal information (names and addresses) in a column that includes several advertisements. Hope that helps
  12. Used my check card
  13. Wow, that I had a hard time understanding what he meant half the time. I've never heard of "swooshing" to work or "binning" bread. Perhaps he was just being colorful? Do they really talk that way in England? Not saying it's a bad thing...just interesting that we are so different still in this supposedly shrinking world.
  14. I just want to add: Good luck and please don't get discouraged. It can take awhile to clear up these things.
