  1. I recently opened a BOA Amtrak branded card. i received 20,000 Amtrak reward points. Over the last 30 years I have received welcome bonuses totaling several thousand dollars in cash and mileage points from many different CC issuers.
  2. The CA knows that they have no chance of collecting the debt since it is past SOL, so they may agree to delete the account now for an agreed amount of payment. So try the "pay for delete" method.
  3. First you have to join a CU in your area that offers credit cards and meet their requirements for membership. Check them out online or at the local branches. I think CUs are more lenient than banks, but I have little experience in this. I was approved easily for my Navy FCU card because I had IRAs and CDs with them even though I had high balances on some of my other cards at the time of application. I made full use of their low interest balance transfer offer which was the only reason I applied for it.
  4. These "pre-qualified" credit card offers are made based on a "soft" pull of one of your credit reports. These soft inquiries do not count as credit inquiries when computing FICO scores. Based on a computer scan of your report you meet at least some of the bank's requirements for the card. Of course you will have to apply for the card before being actually approved for it and this will require a hard pull and more detailed look at your report. If approved, the credit analyst or computer program will also decide on the initial credit limit. Some card offers state generous bonuses for new members after spending a certain amount during the first three months the card is open or low interest balance transfers from other cards or loans. I got several of these bonuses from BOFA over the years in addition to regular cash rewards from using the cards after the bonus period. You can also have questions answered at a local BOA branch.
  5. Now that you have a 2K unsecured card, I suggest closing the low limit secured card. After it shows as closed by consumer on your reports, try applying for a card from a major bank. Cancel your request for a CLI from NFCU since it is highly unlikely they will grant one and so not worth an inquiry. Always pay your card balances in full since this shows creditors that your financial health is good. Eventually you will have a zoo of cards like I do. I also receive rewards just for using my cards.
  6. I got the card last year. I have not used it much because I have lots of other cards with reward programs too. They sent me a warning letter that my account will be closed if the card is not used, so I used it for a small purchase. I recently noticed the free EX score button. I clicked it and got my score. 827. I paid off all of my cards and my mortgages on both my home and rental properties and have virtually no debt at all. I like the free scores so I will keep the card open.
  7. Length of your credit history, job title, time on current job, credit scores, current debt to income ratio, do you own or rent your home, financial assets, and the loan interest rate are also factors that a lender would consider before approving the loan and setting the loan amount. The only time I applied for a signature loan (unsecured revolving line) was over 25 years ago. The bank gave me 20K even though I was earning only about 30K annually at the time and the rate was very reasonable at that time also.
  8. Do not be afraid to go higher than 15% on your only card as long as it is paid in full each month. Doing so makes you look stronger financially thus more likely to be approved when you ask Cap 1 for a limit increase. This will also increase your chance of being approved for another card from a major bank. Slowly work your way up to four cards and using them regurlarly and PIF. Credit scores will slowly rise too.
  9. I have over 20 open cards and make payments to around eight of them each month. I simply use a wall mounted sheet of paper that I write the card names and months on and check them off after payments are scheduled on the card's web sites. It works fine for me. Most of them send me Emails when the statements are generated and I make the payments the same day.
  10. Try lowe's since you have some credit history with them. My Lowe's card gives me an instant 5% discount at Lowe's. Expect a very low limit due to the recent BK.
  11. After your scores rise, try applying for a card from a major bank such as Bank of America. If you apply at a local branch, the rep can assist you in filling out the application and answer questions. If they decline, they may offer one of their secured cards which may become an unsecured prime class card in about a year. Once you have one, getting more higher limit cards becomes much easier.
  12. I recommend applying for the Citi card. Request the BT on your application and they will likely give you a CL at least 20% higher. They offer me frequent blank checks (4% fee) as well as 1.2% cash back rewards.
  13. My experience with them has been very favorable. They still offer me cash advance checks on my first Cap one card at an APR of under 10% and they approved my application for a Cap One Sony card with a CL of 10K. My recent FAKO scores are all in the upper 700s.
  14. None of the charged off loans were settled and I still receive about $100 per month in total from those borrowers. I invested 57K in 287 loans back in 2008. About 50 have fully paid back their loans before their 3 year terms ended. $8,700 in unpaid principle remains on my 110 active loans. I now have a positive investment return of less than one percent. My returns have improved significantly over the past year and I predict I will finish (all remaining loans end) next year with a total return of 1.5%. Prosper continues to lose money and if they declare BK lenders may lose all. I stopped investing for this reason.
  15. I am a lender at Prosper. I have 95 loans that were charged off and none were settled for less than the amount due. Settlements or buyouts from CAs were never offered to me. A small number of these charged off loans are still making monthly payments.
