  1. Their interest rate at 0.7% is fairly decent in this day of 0.1% interest rates. They still have 24/7 call center hours.
  2. One other point that I have not seen mentioned ... if you get a credit report based on adverse action from a creditor, the CRA has 30 days to respond to a dispute based on that report. It does not matter if the report is obtained by mail, or online.
  3. Hi SBA, I am curious as to when this changed? When the free annual credit reports were first mandated by law, the law also stated that the CRA had 45 days to respond to a dispute initiated from one of these reports. I have not been around consistently in the past few years so I must have missed when the law changed, so can you advise or post a link to current information? Thanks!
  4. Because USAA is a useful financial institution for SOME people, perhaps .... I hear they have remote deposit. Yeah, it is great when there is a check rather than greenbacks to deposit. And much better for the person who's paying you, so they have proof without having to also keep track of a receipt. I would absolutely agree ... 100%. I prefer checks myself ....
  5. Ohio SOL is 6 years for a Installment Sales Contract (UCC2-725). By definition this is NOT a charge card....

  7. Have you made a payment arrangement with the IRS? I would do this first ... with little income, you may be able to make a rather painless arrangement. Without a payment arrangement I'd be scared to suddenly have $10k show up in an account. You didn't mention the amount owed on the chargeoffs, but the student loan and tax debt are not likely to be discharged in BK, so is BK really in your future? If the bank account you are thinking of having funds wired into is the same account that you paid the creditors who you defaulted from, I'd be afraid that would be too easy for them to file a garnishment ...
  8. Because USAA is a useful financial institution for SOME people, perhaps ....
  9. Miles can be redeemed on Delta. 65k miles is two round trips in the USA with 15k miles left over... You can also redeem miles on many other airlines worldwide.
  10. If you have high util on that card and make a larger than normal payment, Barclay's does hold the payment ... I have had it happen to me and there are threads on here about it. If memory serves me right the hold is for 5 business days. Of course, YMMV.
  11. Are there any credit monitoring services in Canada presently offering a free trial? I've not checked my Canadian file in a few years and would like to do so without signing up for a long term credit monitoring plan. TIA
  12. Well, I am not one of the 1% so I do the best that I can with what I have to work with. I own rental properties in an area that there are no national banks. The property manager deposits funds to the local bank and I take it from there with the help of USAA.
  13. LOL ... ok, ok. I give! Honestly though, it is not lack of planning. It is more of cash flow situations for me. The cash doesn't come in fast enough to make all those people with their hands outstretched happy. 5-7 days waiting on an ACH would KILL me. That is one real reason I am so happy with USAA. Not to mention 1% FETF on ATM withdrawals overseas, ATM fee reimbursement, no fee checking, etc... And, thanks to this thread, I know that PenFed will treat me the same for ACH's. Not to open a can of worms, but really, what is there not to like? /me prepares for the onslaught. (It is only fair to hear the opposing viewpoint. After all, I am not the Western media.)
