Hi guys,

I received a CA bill that was NOT reporting on my credit report and I made the mistake of sending them a generic validation letter instead of the HIPPA dispute document. All they sent me was a photo copy of the bill with my name, insurance number and what tests were done and that's it. Can I still send them the HIPPA letter even though I've sent them a DV letter already or am I a lost cause???

Please help!

Thanks

Clydesmom- Thank you for responding.

Do I have to contact the OC to let them know that I'm sending a payment? I don't want to send them money and have them write back saying that this account is close.

Also when I sent out the DV, are they able to report on my credit report as being disputed or does it halt everything until everything is resolved?

Most medical providers will not turn down payment on an account especially when it comes with a letter using the word HIPAA. They should not report it to the CRAs but if it is on there after you pay, you dispute with the CRA using HIPAA and paid to OC.

It wasn't medical debt but I had a small amount of tuition I owed a former college I attended. The first indication I had was a letter from a CA. I logged into the college account and paid them directly. Then disputed as paid to OC and it disappeared from my credit reports. I never even spoke to the CA or the college.

What was the date of medical service??

Is this a valid bill??

Did you have insurance, if so do you have your EOMB ( explanation of medical benefits)

"Clydesmom" is well meaning and certainly an expert on hospital billing procedures, but she doesn't fully understand all the issues of credit repair.

DO NOT send anyone any $$ and NEVER NEVER NEVER pay a CA a RED CENT

What was the date of medical service?? The date was on June 2011

Is this a valid bill?? Yes

My responses are in red. Can I still send them the HIPPA letter even though I've sent them a generic DV letter or did I screw up???

Thanks

If you had actually read what I wrote I stated to pay the ORIGINAL CREDITOR not the collection agency. NO WHERE did I say to pay the CA.

The OC has the option to pay online. Should I pay it through their website? Or should I send the hippa letter insert "a", so I can have documentation?

You have GOT to be kidding!!

You MUST pay the OC by snail mail and follow ALL the directions in the HIPAA letter program .

If you pay on line, or without the HIPAA letter insert "a" you will likely get a "paid" collection on your reports, which is WORSE than an unpaid one as it is still derogatory, but more recent.
