My husband and I have one medical collection listed on Experian, Equifax and Transunion. It is the same account; the responsibility is listed as joint. The date opened (or date assigned to collection depending on the CRA) is 12/2006. It is listed as a paid collection. The date paid is listed as 2/2007.

I no longer have bank statements from this time frame, and my memory of it isn't photographic either. But I don't remember paying a CA. To the best of my memory I swiped a debit card on the premises at the time of service as payment in full. We did not have insurance at the time.

Shortly before finding CB in June of this year, I tried online disputes with some of the CRAs and they came back verified. I'm waiting until it has been longer than 90 days before trying to start over with the HIPAA process.

In late June we both opted out, and got old addresses deleted in July and August. That may not matter much for this purpose as we were at the same address then.

Questions:

Should I try to get banking records from this time frame? I no longer have an account with this bank, so it might not be easy.

My first step with the letters would be to send the pre-HIPAA dispute to all the CRAs following all instructions, right? Given the joint nature, would I have 6 letters in 6 CM-not-RRR envelopes, or something else? If they should be separated for me and my husband, is it good or bad to send them all at the same time?

If some of the CRAs do not delete, I will have questions about whether to combine the medical DV, but I don't want to put the cart before the horse.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Make sure you are working from individual reports and dispute with each CRA exactly how the account is reporting ON THAT REPORT

Got it. I mostly wanted to post this far in advance in case I should try to get old banking records pulled, but now I'll relax for a bit and send out the 6 letters to the CRAs at the beginning of October. I will post back in this thread what happens.

Thank you, WhyChat!

Just a note that I sent my pre-HIPAA disputes to the CRAs today. I will be checking online next week to see when they are delivered.

My postal worker thanked me for having filled out and pre-affixed all six of my 3800s to the envelopes, she said that was very helpful. :D

I have the online delivery confirmations for Equifax (both delivered 10/4), Experian (both delivered 10/5), and one Transunion (mine was delivered 10/4, husband's only shows as accepted 10/1 at our post office).

I'll keep checking on that last one. I tend to think TU has it already and USPS is being slow.

Omg, I never saw TU hustle so fast. Got two letters from them today, deleted from both reports!!!

Thank you again WhyChat, I'll let you know what EQ and EX have to say.

Lol, Experian.

They sent both of our results today, with a response basically like 'What do you mean? That account was never here. Here's a copy of your reports without it on there.' (I saw it disappear a couple days after they got the pre-HIPAA dispute letters.)

It is gone from all three of both of our reports! Thank you so much WhyChat! <3
