I just googled this guy and he collects medical, and I'm pretty sure it is for UCB which also collects medical.

 

Since he hasn't let on that this is a medical collection, I'm not quite sure how to proceed. Should I send a regular DV letter, or the PRE HIPAA MEDICAL DISPUTE LETTER TO CRA ?

I just realized that I referenced the HIPAA letter innacurately. I do not know if it is on his CRA.

If it is an unknown medical account and is over 4 years old, then you can send the CA this:

If it is on his reports, there is a follow up letter to dispute it off.

 

If it is UNDER 4 years old and for any substantial amount, and MAY be his, and is on his reports as "medical" then you should send the medical dispute letter ( after opting out and deleting old addresses)

It is a good idea to send this FIRST anyway, as it might resolve the problem, however if it is under 4 years old you MIGHT be sued, so if it is verified you should PAY it to the OC ( after you get full verification from the medical dispute letter) with the HIPAA letter insert "a".

 

This advice ONLY applies to medical accounts that are NOT from a hospital or ambulance service, as THOSE accounts have NO "SOL" and should be paid as soon as verified to the OC with the HIPAA letter insert "a", even if they are over 4 years old.

I just pulled all his CR's. (THe oldest I had for him were in January) I do not see this lawyer reporting on any of them. There ARE some medical collections, but since this doesn't show any info, I don't know if this is related to any of them.

 

The only reason I believe this is medical related is because of a google search I did on him. (I'll pm you his name & what I found)

ETA: This also came just 4 days after I told United Collection Bureau to quit calling and send something. I'm wondering more & more if this IS medical....
