Auction place say last car payment due. This is 2 yrs later

I would say about 3 years ago my nephew purchased a car form an Auction site. He made his payment. NOW 2 YEARS LATER THEY SAY HE DIDNT MAKE HIS LAST PAYMENT.....

 

Why woudl they wait 2 years to call his house and ask for the payment. Oh man I dont htink he has his money order receipt either.

 

What are his options.

 

 

What happens if he doesnt pay up, even thought he doesnt owe.

 

Can they repo the car.
