Good news on the National City secured card: Everyone is approved, they report as unsecured to all 3 CRA's, and pull a CR only to verify info. CSR said it can go unsecured as soon as 12 months.

Note: Min. deposit is $250; max. is $2,500. Annual fee is $36/year billed @ $3/mo. Purchase APR is 15.24%, Cash Advance APR is 15.8%. Balance Transfer APR is the same as Purchase APR. 25 day grace period. (From the Secured VISA Card Disclosure document as of 3/10/2004.)

There is no online app. - you must call them at 800-762-0974 and request one be mailed to you.

If you need a pos. revolving credit TL, I highly recommend going the secured route with National City. (They are considered a prime bank and are one of the nation's largest financial holding companies.)

mycredit, they won't let you apply online. Call them and request an applicaton be sent to you.

(They are the only prime bank I'm aware of that w/approve 100% of secured card applicants. I'm 30-mos. post-BK, and Wells Fargo, BofA, Citi and Chase wouldn't touch me - but National City was very easy to open an account with.)

Anyone have the secured already? For those who get the secured card, please keep us updated regarding the reporting (secured vs. non-secured), approval, etc.

Good luck everyone :)

Just a quick update. I received an application in the mail for a secured card. The letter states 2 different times that the secured card is ALREADY approved. So..... looks like they definitely take ANBODY

Still have not decided on this one. That $3 monthly annual fee could get a little annoying....

$36 is a bit steep per year, but I think it's worth it since I'm sure it will result in you eventually getting a regular National City card. They have a good reputation and it's cool how they have straight rates for purchases, BTs, and cash advances.

Did you see they even have one of those see-thru cards? :8)

I agree - $36/year is a bit steep, but it gets ones foot in the door with a prime bank. One of the things I've learned since being on CB is that it is important to obtain accounts w/banks with which one can build a long-term relationship with, and one that offers a full range of products, including CCs, auto loans, mortgages, etc.

Subprime CCs/issuers just don't have anything further to offer one other than a high-fee/APR CC, which is good for a pos. TL/rebuilding, but at some point, we want to stop doing business with them.

Cool, I am giving them a call tomorrow morning. I have a bunch of unpaid charge offs, lets see if they will approve me!!!

Received my secured National City CC today. It's a pretty ugly card (and their others look so good LOL), but it will be a pos. TL and gets me started with them, so can't complain too much.

Looks like everyone is approved, so if you need a pos. TL and want to start a relationship w/a prime bank, I highly recommend National City.

Thanks for that info. Thanks to this board I am starting to see that credit is important. Only a year out of bk, but printed that info out for future use. Hopefully, it will be a start for me in the future.

i have disputed some accounts with transunion. I got a letter from them yesterday acknowledging my disputes, however, i went on line and looked at my credit report at freecreditprofile.com and found that some of the accounts i have disputed have been reaged showing dola as 3/04.

so my question is: do i wait for the paper report from transunion or do i jump on them now?

thanks for any input

I sent in my application last week. They called me yesterday requesting a copy of my rental lease agreement because I don't have a home phone.

She did say as long as they get that I'm approved.

BUT they did pull an inquiry on Equifax.

TMTF - Did they pull an inquiry for you as well?
