Validation Explained

Ok so the purpose of this post is to collectively capture some of the pertinent posts that describe what validation is. Unfortunately there is no one single answer, so speculating as to what it is has led to both extremes, the answer, as always, is somewhere in the middle.

 

Validation is not defined in the FDCPA, moreover it’s only discussed briefly and the legal standard is never explained. That may cause concern in some, but actually I think it allows us to interpret validation to be a collective of FTC opinions and a few precedent-setting cases. This bodes well for our pursuits, it is not at all a smoke screen or a diversionary tactic as some have suggested, it is in its simplest form a way to even the playing field.
