Hey guys. Just a quick question or poll if you will.

Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested(CMRRR)costs around $6 or 7 bucks. and it requires a sig and then that sig is mailed to you and kept online for 6 months and on file at the Post office for two years.

Certified Mail(CM) costs around 4 bucks and it also requires a sig and that info is kept online for 6 months and on file at the Post office for 2 years.

The only difference between the two is you won't get a actual copy with the CM but you can always request it from the post office at a later date and it is cheaper.

Can anyone tell me why they were prefer one over the other?

I have to send out 26 CYA letters to OC's and CA's and I would like to save a hundred dollars or so.

Thanks

CMRRR only costs $4.42 for a letter size envelope, which includes first class postage. If it is costing you that much more you might be sending a large envelope. I send only a letter size envelope for that price.

Not that $4.42 x 26 is inexpensive (I read your other post :) ), but it might help a bit.

I have done regular certified mail which is cheaper, b/c half of the time my green card wither don't come back, or all of the info is wrong on them.

Green cards are said to hold up better in court, but my lawyer tells me that even the printout from USPS is sufficient (he handles this stuff a lot).

So, I don't know if I'll be going the CMRRR anymore, probably just ceritified.

I was thinking that too!!! I don't have a lot of funds to put toward this and in the future I will use Certified Mail and print off the receipt online when it has reached its destination.

Hopefully others will see this so they know they have this option also and it has worked just as well as the CMRR

Many vets on this board argue that ONLY the green cards hold up in court, but my attorney (who actually was a member of CB when it first started) Said it really isn't necessary. A sig is better than the printout, but if you can get the sig from the post office anyway, there really is no point of the green card.

NOt to mention I don't even get the green cards back half of the time, and they very rarely have the date on it (correct date)

Over the past 2-3 Weeks, I've gotten back about 5 CMRRR Green Cards back, and only one of them is legible.

The Signature and Name Prints are illegible, so how am I supposed to tell who signed for the mail?

PS - Nothing like bumping a 5 Year Old Thread, lol.
