Do NOT carry a credit balance on Citi Cards if you want Quicken Direct Connect to work

I haven't been able to download my Citi Forward to Quicken for over a month.

Also had a problem with my Citi ThankYou Premier.

I'd already called in once about the problem, but no resolution.

 

 

Just spoke with a young man in Citi tech support, and he mentioned that the few people he's had calls regarding this issue all had credit balances.

 

EUREKA!

 

My ThankYou Premier had a credit balance last month, till I put a Sam's Club charge on it Sept 30th.

The ThankYou Premier started downloading again this month.

My Citi Forward still has a credit balance, so it's still failing.

 

He's forwarding the anomaly to higher support, so hopefully Citi will fix the "glitch"

Thanks for the information Bob. I had the same error showing up for one of my Citi cards. And it has a small credit balance.

Downloaded all my Citi Cards this morning in Quicken, including Citi Forward.

 

I did have problems downloading Capital One for about three weeks, but, that problem seems to be fixed.

I have enough charges pending now to erase the credit balance.

 

Direct Connect still not working.

 

Hopefully when the charges actually post next week, DC will be up and running again. :D

Yup, credit balance was the glitch.

 

Citi Forward posted charge ~midnight Pacific time for a $1.35 balance.

Your credit balance discovery actually reminded me of an issue I encountered a few weeks ago. My NFCU statement was cutting and reporting that day, so I was watching it closely waiting to see when it updated so I could run an app with lower Utilization reporting. I made my payment based on a pending charge that was to complete posting that day as well, and when it completed and cut it would have something like a $10 balance.

 

Well, that night before the statement process was apparently complete, the payment transfer caused a credit balance because the pending charge had not yet posted, and the system apparently glitched because my activity for about 8 hours actually reflected that my current balance was the credit amount plus my credit LIMIT. The thing that really freaked me out was that it wasn't a momentary single-line error. On every activity line the running balance had changed as though I had a full additional CL's worth of debt the entire month, out of nowhere. blink.gif

 

I was frantic... taking screen shots of old statements and balance activity and just imaging the conversation I was going to have with the CSR the next day. Forget the concern that if this reported to the CRA's wrong I would lose my window for the loan app I needed to do with low utilization; I was worried they'd insist I owed thousands.

 

Well, crisis averted. The next morning when the statement had finally updated and the account reported to the CRAs, all was right. The pending charge had posted and the reported balance was the expected $10. biggrin.gif
