Hi Everybody,

I ran across Stryker's approach to Goodwill's via email. I had a Comcast account that went to collections (those nasty Hurricanes in S. Florida displaced me and my dad) and sent to Credit Protection Association. I had paid it in 2006. I did exactly what he said:

12pm-Googled "comcast executive contacts" a few times

12:05pm-Found a VP of Consumer Affairs and put her name in the format of all comcast emails (the email they gave was something like consumer_execs@comcast.com so I just replaced with her email with

firstname _lastname@comcast.com

12:32pm-I used a similar verbage to his example something along the lines of I've been trying to get help but am not getting anywhere

2:39pm-She forwarded my email to TWO other people. They asked for the details of what happened to my account and I replied with the same Goodwill I had previously sent to the CA but was denied

3:55pm-Got a call from a local rep who asked for my account information

9:01am the next day-Rep call to tell me my account was updated and the CA had been notified to delete my account from the CRA!

THANKS STRYKER!!!!!

I just had success with a Stryker variation with CPA / Comcast of South Florida. There are some really kind people burried amoung these mounds of jerks, you just have to weed them out. Ill post my goowill letter for reference in another thread. Way to go OP!

I also have a collection account from CPA from comcast here in michigan. I paid the past debt a couple years ago but still have it listed on my report, and would like it removed. I have sent a couple emails with no response. Need to find more addresses to send them too I suppose.

What do you send, and who did you send it/them to?

I sent a gw letter, just my own thing.. explaining my situation and asking for deletion of the account to the collection agency and called comcast directly.. was no help.. the lady I spoke to said she would send a message to her supervisor and call me back, never got a call back.

Not sure what the stryker method is, will try to find out what all is involved with that.

Comcast/TWC are very workable entities.

The key is, IMHO, not to pour out the entire story in an email, particularly the initial communications. You wanna get someone;s ear, and approach it from a customer service standpoint.

I found an email address for an exec (think ceo maybe) online today at comcast so sent this message...

--------------------

Dear Mr. Roberts,

I have been working very hard to repair my credit for a long while now and am happy to say I have all my past debt paid off, including debt with Comcast (Paid to Credit Protection Association, account number XXXXXXXXXXX, paid roughly 2 years ago).

I had Comcast service for roughly 4 years never missing a payment. My family and I moved to a new home. Roughly 6 months after moving to our new house I get a collection letter from Credit Protection Association saying I have a debt with Comcast. I called Comcast to confirm the debt, they said it was valid. I called and paid the full amount to the collection agency. At the time I did not realize anything was being reported to the credit bureaus and figured if it was payed off would remove the account. Well the account is still listed, shows as paid but as a negative collection on my report and is impacting my credit score pretty badly.

I am trying to get a mortgage and my credit score is right on the edge of qualifying. I am very hopeful you can help me out and have this removed from my credit reports. I appreciate your time and look forward to receiving a favorable decision from you soon.

Thank you!

-----------------

I sent this morning, I jumped into the shower and when I got out I saw a missed call/vm on my cel phone. It was from comcast corporate offices saying they received my message and will give me a call back monday.

Was pretty surprised to get that message so quickly.. so hopefully it will be worked out.

Work with what you have.

I would have told you NOT to send it to the CEO; they re-route those anyway. Also, the way you worded it gives them an out: the infamous "we must report/it's out of our hands" excuse.

Be prepared to talk to them on the phone, and be willing to be very persuasive. Best wishes! ;)
