What is the general consensus on how many disputes you can have in the works at one time? I have disputes for all of the negative items on my credit report all written up, but I know that it would be foolish to send them out all at once (there are 12 of them  ) because it might flag something to the CRA's or something...

Any input?

Lots of different ideas about that on this board. Many recommend the first set of disputes include all derogs, AKA " blanket dispute ". After the results come back, sometimes a request for reinvestigation of some of the items is appropriate, sometimes it is best to write to the CA/JDB. It depends...

It also depends on what your dispute says, which is not outlined in your post above.

Well let's see....I have items that are not mine, items that are out of SOL, items that are listing themselves as factoring accounts when they are not, items that are within SOL and are mine and have not been paid, a paid judgement that I would like to have removed, a medical record that should have been covered by my insurance but for some reason is on my credit report...etc. Each DV letter is tailored according to my situation, it isn't one blanket dispute. I don't see the point in doing things that way.

I just wanted to know if it is common for CRA to flag your report or any thing like that if you dispute too many things with them or if too many CA's on your report start flagging their items as disputed.

items that are out of SOL,

Dispute with CRA using WhyChat's SOL letter, separate letter anytime

items that are listing themselves as factoring accounts when they are not,

Dispute old addresses off that/those credit reports first, then dispute this with " inaccurate, please delete ".

items that are within SOL

Dispute, do not DV until out of SOL unless it is a tiny sum.

and are mine and have not been paid, a

Dispute old addresses off that/those credit reports first, then dispute this with " inaccurate, please delete ".

paid judgement that I would like to have removed

Dispute with CRA as inaccurate, then send CYA letter or Nutcase letter to which ever company is reporting the paid collection.

, a medical record that should have been covered by my insurance but for some reason is on my credit report...etc.

Post this for Why Chat in the medical collections forum. It depends on age and other factors.

DV letters are tailor made, yes, but those are not appropriate or best used until basic disputes with the CRA's have already been sent. Why? Because many of those accounts are deleted when you dispute with the CRA....when I say blanket dispute I mean a single letter to the CRA with something simple like " These are inaccurate, please investigate and delete them ".

Bubba - do you recommend sending the blanket dispute CMRRR, or does it not particularly matter for this particular CRA letter?

I spent a couple hours last night hand-writing EIGHT Why Chat pre-HIPAA dispute letters to the various CRAs for old (6.5 yr) medical collections that I've never received any sort of information about until I pulled my credit. I was planning to also send individual dispute letters for a few old collections (like two companies collecting the same debt and a bunch of things listed incorrectly). Can I send non-medical collection disputes in a blanket letter, or do you recommend writing individual letters? I'm so annoyed by all of the wrong information on my reports that writing the letters by hand was almost a bit therapeutic :P If I'm creating more work for myself than necessary, though, then I'll certainly do it another way.

3 or 4..maybe 5 or 6

Much more than that they will either say FRIVOLOUS or just stop after after 4 or 5

The first time I done a Blanket dispute, (about 6) I got a lot of small ones off real easy. Then 1-2 punch, Then I focused on each CA.

If I could do it all over I would also pay careful attention to EX. In most cases you will only have a 1-2 times with them, then they will not investigate anymore, and throw you in special handling.

What ever you do...DON'T mix items

"IF" you are disputing personal stuff (as in name...DOB...SS#...address errors) DON'T INCLUDE THEM WITH ANY ACCOUNT DISPUTES
