I was just wondering if there's any CBers out there who've had success with offering a PFD to Credit Management? I sent one on my GF's behalf (total balance of $140 for old Comcast account which just started reporting to Experian Dec 1st). I started a thread earlier about sending them a PFD and was just wondering who here has dealt with these guys in the past.

Thanks!

Also, I'd been doing daily pulls on her TC lately and it popped up on the 7th of December but it states that it was on her Ex since the 1st. What's with the discrepincy? I wanted to jump on this as fast as possible so they know I mean business. :D

It's a long story. In the other thread I explained that I DV'ed the original CA Comcast had the account with and disputed it with the CRAs (1-2 punch). They ignored the DV and the account fell of the CR. We're going to be buying a condo soon and I don't want this to pop back up on her account as we're searching for a loan or in the closing process, so I would rather be out $140. I will DV them if they do not accept my offer. She only has two negative TLs on her report out of 13 positives and if I can get rid of one by paying $140 I'll go that route to give me peace of mind that it won't be sold/assigned to another CA. What's weird is she has another Comcast account since she's moved and she never took care of this old balance. If the balance was more than $140, I woulda DV'ed them first instead of as a second choice.

CMI? They WILL honor their verbal agreement to PFD. I would not do that with any other CAs though.

Yes, CMI. It sounds like I went the right route by disputing it off first when it was originally with Sherman Acquisitions. :)

100% of collectors will lie 100% of the time.

Yep. Which is why I sent the offer the first day the collections account became visible on her Experian CMRRR and only gave them my PO Box. Sherman is notorious for being lawsuit happy, though.

I know. I DV'ed SHERMAN. Not Comcast. Sorry if there was any miscommunication there. The CA is the only one reporting the TL, not the OC (Comcast).

If Sherman then sold/placed the debt with CMI without validating, that's continuing collection activity, an actionable violation.

Sherman didn't own the account, they were only an assignee. Comcast reassigned the debt to Credit Management. I would've paid Comcast when it wasn't reporting, but they said that I would have to deal with their CAs.

Daniel is one of the few people I know who has been able to PFD with CMI. Search the threads for CMI and you'll find his info.

In my case, based on advice obtained here, I dealt directly with the OC. I went REALLY high up the chain (took me weeks to get email addresses alone) and finally found an SVP at the cable company who personally approved a PFD transaction.
