Been wondering what was up with all the ads and television commericals I had been seeing lately.....I love the Sacha Baron Cohen and his ALI G and Borat characters,, but KAZAKHSTAN still ain't going to be my first choice as a vacation spot....can wait for the Borat movie

 

 

BORAT AND KAZAKHSTAN SPAT CONTINUES

 

 

LATEST: SACHA BARON COHEN's alter-ego BORAT SAGDIYEV's jokes about his 'homeland' have angered Kazakhstan's government so much, they are now advertising their country's achievements in The New York Times.

 

Entitled 'Kazakhstan In The 21st Century', the four-page feature disputes the British comic's claims pastimes in Kazakhstan include gypsy catching, goat punching and drinking horse urine.

 

30/09/06 - White House gates shut to Borat

Secret Service agents turned away Sacha Baron Cohen as Borat when he tried to invite "Premier George Walter Bush" to a screening of "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

 

In response to images printed in US magazines displaying pictures of the US and Kazakh presidents shaking hands Borat said "If there is one more item of Uzbek propaganda claiming that we do not drink fermented horse urine, give death penalty for baking bagels, or export over 300 tonnes of human pubis per year, then we will be left with no alternative but to commence bombardment of their cities with our catapults."

 

Meanwhile Kazakh press secretary Roman Vasilenko said he was worried that some may take the Borat routine seriously and told Reuters journalists "[borat]' is not a Kazakh. What he represents is a country of Boratastan, a country of one.
