  1. No hard pull for increase on either card.
  2. So I logged in to my Cap 1 account to make a payment on both of my cards today. I decided to try the request for an increase and was shocked that the first one came back with a $500 increase. It was a card that started as a credit steps card with a $500 limit and had since gone up to $1250 now with this $500 I am up to $1750. I have had the card for almost 2 years now. I decided to try my other card that was sitting at $2000 limit and was shocked when they offered to increase by an additional $1500. This card is now at $3500. I am very happy with the increase on both. Capital One has been good to me. Patty
  3. I agree with the others that have responded. I know I myself have helped family in the past but it seems they do not learn unless they have to bail themselves out of the situation. Good luck!! Patty
  4. I too am planning on paying off my car. Also have a trip planned with the kids for spring break. Then save the rest. Patty
  5. I too have 2 accounts with Cap1 in the credit steps program. The first one was opened around September 2010. Started at $300 and went to $500 after 5 months on time payments. Just after this card hit the 1 year mark I logged in to make a payment and noticed they increased the limit on it to $2,000. I was thrilled and surprised. The 2nd card I have is only about 6 months old. It started at $500 and went to $750 after $5 months. Not sure if this will see the same type of increase at the 1 year mark but I am hopeful. Others may have had different experience with Cap1 but I have been happy with them and they have been more then fair with me. Good luck! Patty
  6. It is not a "judgment" until it has gone throught the court process & the judge has granted a judgment. If the case was filed and you paid before the court date did you make sure that the case was dismissed? I would check with your local court and see if it actually went to judgment. If it did then you might have a more difficult time getting it removed. If you paid it prior and did not go to court, the creditor may have allowed it to go to judgment and then showed is as paid. Definitely need to check with your local court to see what they show. Patty
  7. Credit Steps is a program that Cap1 offers on some of their credit cards. You would have gotten a notice not long after receiving the card but, I don't believe they offer it in the secured program. You might try applying for one of their unsecured cards and see if they give you one that is in the program. Patty
  8. this is good news to some of us who may be stuck with a low limit for now. may i ask what kind of use were you putting on it each month? just a purchase or two to keep it active? max then PIF? or a certain percentage of your limit? are you placing recurring bill payments on it or everyday purchases? how did you get rid of the annual fee? Sorry that I didn't respond to this sooner. This card for me came with no annual fee...not sure how or why but I am happy about that. I was using it on a regular basis for multiple things depending on my need for the month. I always try to PIF because I don't want to carry any debt if I can help it. They also sent me a 2nd card about 6 months ago in the credit steps program also. That one started at $500 and was bumped to $750 at the 5 month mark. Hopefully when I get to the 1 year mark on that one they will bump it again but if not no big deal. Patty
  9. I received one of the Cap1 cards in the credit steps program about 14 months ago. Started at $300 limit then stepped up to $500 after 5 months ontime payments. Hit 1 year mark a couple of months ago and noticed recently that they upped my limit from $500 to $2,000 without asking. Also no additional hits on the credit report. It was a nice unexpected increase in time for Christmast shopping. I know others have not had luck with Cap1 but they have been good to me and with no annual fee & PIF every month I will keep the card for as long as I need it. Thanks, Patty
  10. How did you get in good with Amex after having a charge off with them? Patty
  11. I just signed up for EQ scorewatch on 3/10/11 through MyFico. I received my first alert today which is dated 3/12/11. Their reason fir a 16 point increase is: Your FICO score may have gone up because the following factor is not hurting your FICO score as much as before: •You've made heavy use of your available revolving credit. I have 3 open revolving accounts I know the change is that one went from a balance of $693 (limit of $700) to a balance of $87. So the score jump isn't because of heavy use. I just thought that was a funny reason especially when they push keeping utilization down. Very happy with the jump in score though. Patty
  12. FICO25 worked for me today. Patty
  13. Found out today I was approved for Hooters Mastercard. Do not know all the details yet. App'ed on Feb 5th, received a letter on the 18th that they needed additional information to continue processing. Called and answered a few questions on the 19th. Hadn't heard anything so I called them yesterday to check status. The lady said it was still being processed and to call back this afternoon and they would have an answer. Called today and was told approved and card should be in the mail within 2 days. Didn't ask if there was an af or what the cl or apr were. Just happy to be approved. They pulled TU and I'm not sure what my score was but it was just under 600 at the time. Patty
  14. It is not a secured card. With the credit steps you start with a low limit and within a specified amount of on-time monthly payments they increase your credit limit. Mine started at $300 and I received a letter telling me with 5 on-time monthly payments they would increase my limit by $200. When my 6th statement cut they had increased my limit just like they said they would. Patty
  15. Nothing on my $100 BBRZ card. I had been carrying a balance each month just to see if they would give an increase but paid it off last month. Patty
