  1. Back in November I switched from Comcast to Direct TV, paid the final bill, and never looked back. Today I recieved a dunning letter from a CA for the amout of my final bill. I knew I paid it, but didn't remember if I had set up a payment through my bank's bill pay or through Comcast's website, so I logged onto my bank accout and saw that I sent the payment through the bank's bill pay. When I send out a check from the bill pay, the money is taken out of my account as soon as I send the check so I never really know when it's cashed. I called the bank and asked if the check had cleared. Of course, it's been so long that I was told they had to research it and would call me back. Not 15 minutes later I get a call back saying that the checked didn't clear until Feb 25. Now this dunning letter is dated Mar 17, so I figure they just need to double check Comcast's account records. So I decided to have a little fun with my dispute letter. Here it is word for word, and the only change I've made is not including the account number.......
  2. Me: Good, since I'm recording you also. Are you aware that this debt is 10 years old, has been disputed in the past with no reply, and is long outside the statute of limitations? Him: By law we have 10 years to collect a judgement in GA. Ha! 10 years to collect on a judgement that doesn't exist.
  3. I received a change in terms notice several weeks ago but it wasn't included in the monthly statement. It was sent seperately and I almost tossed it thinking it was junk mail. The notice I got not only changed the grace period, but it also said the finance charges were going to be computed daily instead of monthly.
  4. What is CCT? I have TC and hate it! Credit Check Total I just signed up with them and because I had to call in to get a pin # they extended my introductory period from 9 days to 30 days.
  5. This morning I logged into TC and updated DH's CR. I saw there was a new EX inquiry OPL/CITI dated 6/21. I did a google search and it shows as Exxon Mobile, but DH is deployed and hasn't applied for new credit. DH does have a Citgo card that hasn't been used in over a year. We stopped using it when the price of gas started getting unreal and then slowly all the Citgos around here started diappearing. I did go to the Citi website and saw that they do issue the Exxon Mobile card. I wonder if Citi is converting all the Citgo gas cards, but if so, wouldn't it be a soft inquiry instead of a hard? Does anyone have any experience with this?
  6. http://www.bankofamerica.com/creditcards/ If you apply for a card and get denied, BofA will couter with either the 99/500 offer or a fully secured offer. After 9 to 12 months it should unsecure if you kept your account in good standing.
  7. Teni

    TC canceled me.

I'll pull daily for a week or so, and then leave it alone for a couple weeks. The last time I tried to pull an updated copy of my reports was on the first of June, then I left it alone until this past Tuesday. If they would have asked me for another payment method, I would have told them to shove it. I was checking the billing info online while I had the TC csr on the phone with me. I didn't even have to call the cc company to know that the account was in good standing. I've never missed a payment and I've never gone over 40% ut on that card. It bothers me what happened, it bothers me alot. It's as if they went looking a reason to cancel me.
  8. I haven't been able to update my reports for the past couple days and at first I didn't think much of it; TC seems to always have problems. This morning I got an alert about a new inquiry, and when I couldn't update the reports I called CS. The CSR told me that he was going to cancel my account because the payment didn't go through. I said WTF!! I went to the TC website and double checked the billing information they had. Everything was correct. After I got off the phone with TC, I called my cc company who was very quick to assure me that my account was in good standing and there was absolutely no reason for the charge not to go through. The cc rep went through my account and double checked everything. She told me she couldn't even see that a charge had been reversed, so apparently TC didn't even try to deduct the fees. Oh well, good riddance to TC. I'm tired of their shoddy service. The webpages take too long to load and half the time I can't update my reports.
  9. I also found CB from a link in one of Liz Pulliam Weston's articles.
  10. Reporting to the CRA's has nothing to do with a state's SOL. Before you send this letter you should check out Why Chat's site to see what the SOL is for your state.
  11. Thats fairly common for BofA. They'll do two hard pulls; the first when you apply and second when they get your acceptance letter. I believe they do report as soon as they've approved you for an account. Your check should clear the bank in the next few days. I haven't found much about the 99/500 card here on CB, but when I googled it I found a myriad of information.
  12. Okay, if you walked up being completely ignorant of the fact that they ATM was giving extra cash, then by all means that is not stealing. Knowing of the error ahead of time and knowingly exploiting that error. I'm sorry, but that is theft. Don't blame the broke college students? That's just asking to open up a whole different arguement. I don't see that ATM that's not giving the correct amount with a line behind it... How is it "theft" when ultimately its THEIR money they're taking? The Bank is going to adjust their accounts accordingly anyways. I can't imagine any bank that would allow a member to just TAKE money. And if the student doesn't have the money in the account to satisfy the difference the money will be taken when the money IS deposited. So to use the "theft" or "stealing" word is a bit strong if you ask me. If anything its just one BIG inconvenience--- for the bank and for the student. It's theft because of the intent. The students had no intentions of paying back the money or having it taken from their accounts. They saw it as free money. But how do YOU (or anyone on this board who has NEVER had a conversation with these students) KNOW that with a certainty? The fact is you dont know what their INTENT was. That's fact. Have you read the article? It's obvious what their intent was; to steal money from a screwed up ATM. They wouldn't have been waiting as long as 40 minutes to take out the correct amount.
  13. Congrats!!! I still haven't made it into the 700 Club, but when it happens I'll be doing cartwheels!

  15. IMO, you should try to get your foot in the door with a prime card. BofA http://www1.bankofamerica.com/creditcards/...p;router_flag=y Citibank https://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/cardDeta...do?screenID=940
