Would you offer to give someone's baby, unwashed cloth diapers?
SCgurl replied to orangecrush's topic in General Discussion
On topic-OC, that chica is NUTS to offer truly soiled diapers that haven't been washed. EWWWWWWWWWWW! Off topic: Cloth diaper user here...not a crunchy thing, not a money thing-I'm allergic to lanolin and can't touch disposables or wipes without getting a blistering rash in about 1.2 seconds... Cloth diapers are NOTHING like they used to be. No pins involved. And my washer handles poo for now...when she starts solids, I'll use a flushable liner. I use a dry bag (dump diaper and cover into bag and zip-no smell). The all-in-ones are stupendously cute . I also use really, really good service quality prefolds (NOT the cheapy Gerber things) with diaper covers (also stupendously cute). I wash every other night. Baby A has had no diaper rash, and my hands are happy. My faves so far are Flips and Blueberry. It really isn't anything more than doing a load every other night. Not much more involved than there is with disposables. And I spent about $300 to diaper her through toddlerhood. Just my $.02. -

There were other issues as well, mostly revolving around emissions requirements (it wasn't offered in a number of states, and federal emissions changed in 2007). They only made 10K of them between the 2 years. Manual would have been a nice option, but I still would've gone automatic. I did have a tough time finding one when I got it in 2007. -
Unfortunately, Baby A is on Alimentum and we don't have an alternative. Waiting on advice from pediatrician if we can move her to Nutrammigen for now. Lot #s confirmed from one of my mommy boards. As someone who drives a diesel Jeep...Craptastic battery, no...the battery I have is ~$160ish (start requires more power). You skip the spark plug issue in diesels. And bio is teh sexy No no, I meant the batteries for the electric cars and hybrids is pretty craptastic. AS in actually bad for the environment. I'm sure your battery is lovely and dainty. Not to derail this thread - but do you love your Jeep? I assume it's a Wrangler? A certain Teenager is turning 16 soon, and we've been discussing vehicles (will be hitting up an Auto Auction and paying cash). We talked about a Wrangler because I want her to have 4x4 capabilities, because I'm hoping she goes to college in Asheville. (Mars Hill, WCU) but even if she goes to State I'd like her to have the 4x4 capability. But I keep getting the "you either love them or hate them" argument followed by "Jeeps are POS" arguments. DD could care less, and only cares if it has AC and that it sits up/has a higher profile then a compact car. Just need some advice on what to worry about/not worry about. I have a diesel 2005 Liberty, and will be shortly acquiring a diesel Grand Cherokee (b/c putting the carseat in the other car is physically impossible; we're replacing that car ). I love the thing. I actually don't want to hand the keys to baby daddy, but he wants me to have the Cherokee. I've seen Libertys in wrecks, and the roll cage is awesome protection (yes, it has a roll bar in the roof). It has been offroad in the Asheville area, down around New River Gorge, and around Sugar Mountain, and it was AWESOME! The 4x4 has gotten me out of some sticky situations with flooding here as well. The older Libertys were built on the Wrangler platform, IIRC. The newer ones share a platform with the Dodge Nitro, so I don't know if the roll bar is in the roof. On to your questions: I love the Select-Trac 4x4. It allows for 2 WD, Lo 4x4, and Full Time 4x4 and Part-Time 4x4 . Shift on the fly, which helps the gas mileage (can keep it in 2WD unless I need 4x4). Gas mileage on Jeeps SUCKS (around 16 MPG, IIRC), but I get 25/30 on the diesel in 2WD and around 22 MPG in Full-Time 4x4. I have driven a Wrangler, and liked it but for 2 things: the soft top Wranglers make the inside mighty cold in winter and the wind noise can be overwhelming. There's a ton of Mopar parts for customizing, etc. I have heard that electrical problems are common, but have not experienced it. And it really is "love or hate". I thought I would hate them, and once I test drove a few Wranglers, ended up loving them. Oh, and there's not a lot of people room in them-you really have to be OK with how you sit in them-I think that's the part some people really hate. Road noise can be diminished with different tires, but it's not that bad. Two points here though, especially for a young'un: She should leave the doors on and always wear her seatbelt. Top off, IMHO, is fine b/c of the rollbars. So yeah, Wranglers are cool and all, but also look at Libertys. I have no experience with the Patriot or Compass, I think there's a 4x4 option, and beyond that you're looking at much more expensive models. For further reference: lostkjs.com ETA: Ya, those who say "X is a POS" without an honest reason is not one to listen to. I get the "Harleys are POS" all the time-including babby daddy. I took immense satisfaction in replying "Really? 'Cause your BMW is the one leaking oil all over the garage." Just sayin'. -

I didn't even read the rest of the responses, 'cause we've already had this issue with paternal grandma (she's 83)- She kept telling me to give the baby water after I told her her no, babies this young don't need water, they need fed. I found out she gave A water behind my back, therefore, she no longer sees A unsupervised by me. It was that simple. Anyone who can't follow my rules about my child does not get the privilege of unsupervised access. Period.

Thanks-I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an automatic "no" with current economic conditions. Would be trade-in + cash down, hopefully purchase price less than $18K.

I'm sure this has been answered before, but my search-foo is weak and cannot find it... Background: I have a Jeep that is 1.5 years from payoff. I also have a '99 Cougar that's been paid off forever (title is in my name, DBF was driving it before the baby; now we switch off depending on who is driving the baby). I now have a daughter that debuted on May 18th. The car seat barely fits in the Jeep, and it is not physically possible to get it in the Cougar without taking out a front seat. Due to logistics in transporting the baby, we have discovered we really need to trade in the Cougar on a vehicle that we can put the car seat in. We are not married yet, and therefore we keep all the finances separate. I am the breadwinner in the household. We don't know a make/model, but anything acceptable with less than 60K miles around here seems to be in the $12k and up price range. Is it possible for me to finance a 2nd vehicle? I will be the one paying for it (and probably driving it so the SO can drive the Jeep). Or should we just tough it out and pay off the Jeep first? Yes, I can afford payments. No baddies on credit, was 740 the last time I checked. We do have an option to go ahead and pay off the Jeep, but that will mean less of a down payment on another vehicle. And it will mean waiting until the payoff posts on my credit report.

Baby names: Why do people get all crazy about them?
SCgurl replied to orangecrush's topic in General Discussion
So now that my bean is here.... OC, we finally decided on the baby's name as I was being wheeled to the OR for the c-section, pumped up on pitocin, and stressed beyond belief. I told the BF we needed to settle it before I got any more drugs in my system. As in, before the morphine... We finally agreed on Amelia....I wanted Annika, he wanted Ava. -
U.S. low score on world motherhood rankings...
SCgurl replied to orangecrush's topic in General Discussion
Uh, yeah. I'm getting my ducks in a row to fight this battle with my OB-she started talking smack about a primary c-section because "the baby hasn't dropped yet and if she doesn't by the time we induce, we need to do a c-section". So then, why are we inducing? Because of the risk of placental deterioration-not because the baby is in distress. MMMMMkay.....not good enough IMO. -
O.M.G. Gawd I hope it isn't to chuck-e-cheese. No...... Krispy Kreme I will NEVER eat a creme-filled donut from there ever again.

OK, so I'm going to open the can of worms...'Cause I am having a girl in about 3 weeks... How did y'all bring this up with your dds? I don't ever remember NOT knowing about where babies come from and periods and stuff, but my mom passed away, so I can't really ask her. I was planning on pretty much just leaving the bathroom door open and let her ask questions when she's ready. Y'know, just not turning it into something to hide and be ashamed about, and answer questions as they come up honestly. I'm even considering getting her dad in on the act, so she knows that it's OK to ask him questions too. I know, it's a bit early to worry about it, but still-I worry about it

I was just sittin' back and waiting for this FTR-I whine. I just restrict my whining to the other party responsible for my condition. I figure he needs the adjustment now and not later

By "Here", I meant SC, not CB-sorry for the confusion. We have to be careful not to confuse re-aging on credit reports with the ability of the CA to sue based on SOL. The SOLs that OP mentioned were the court SOLs-not the aging of the account on credit reports. The date of the PFD agreement would be the date the legal SOL clock gets reset to-not the DOFD on the reports. I'm not talking about the credit report, I'm talking about Arrow possibly suing the OP. SC law mentions nothing about information in credit reports. The pertinent code is: Sounds like a PFD wouldn't be enough to reset the SOL, right? Notice that "in some writing" section. That's where the OP can run into trouble-in this state, the word "signature" can mean almost anything so long as there is an acknowledgment of some kind (people still commonly sign with an "X"). And "in some writing" is sufficiently covered by sending a letter. What I was trying to explain was they could, indeed, remove it from the reports and still be able to sue the OP successfully if the PFD isn't worded carefully. OP, IANAL but you may have covered your bases by not acknowledging the debt. Just proceed carefully and make sure you get IN WRITING that by PFD it satisfies their claim and they won't sue you. Just wanted to give you a heads up so you can avoid unintended consequences. And I'd still watch the court dockets carefully for the next 3 years just in case.

Does the clock matter if the item is deleted? Yes. All that matters is payment or offer to pay. If the item is deleted, then all that really affects is the reports. They could still sue if the clock is restarted. And the courts are full of these kinds of suits here. They could certainly accept a PFD-and then turn around and try to get a default judgment against the OP for any "remaining balance". (I use the term loosely, as they could add whatever fees they wanted to once the OP makes a payment.) SC is not a consumer-friendly state. ETA: They could also use the PFD to restart the clock and begin a suit, even without payment.
