  1. Oh, and one more question for the hive mind: I have been refreshing my memory on goodwill, and so many of the success stories are related to older notations, where a person can point to a series of on-time and complete recent payments as a reason to be granted goodwill. My notation is fresh, last month, although again there was never a payment missed, just a few shorted due to salamanderic autopay under management coupled with life change/moving/new website. If I go the goodwill route, should I wait until I have some solid complete months paid, or would it behoove me to address this right away? Thanks! -m-
  2. Hi AnnMichele, Would you mind PMing me a copy of your letter also? Congratulations! Your results are phenomenal! -m- Edited for autocorrect...
  3. Well, they really didn't botch it per se, but my online information was never activated, I guess, that might be the best way to describe it. I requested a PIN which they required in order to activate my account, but never received it (at least that I could find, I went through my mail once I finally retrieved from the old address, and it wasn't there). So everything just got pushed based on when I could call them and straighten everything out, which was a multi-step process. I couldn't change my address over the phone, so it took some time to get that straightened out. I couldn't get the PIN sent to me at my new address until after several days had elapsed after they received and input the new address, and ultimately I never received the PIN. I finally found a great customer service rep who found my previous login information, and activated it for me. Not sure whether he was supposed to do that, but I was at the time really grateful. That was January-ish or early February, probably right around the time the delinquent notation was being put on the reports. Thanks again for your thoughts, Tweak!
  4. Hi Tweak, and thanks so much for responding! It's just one month, February of this year. It is the worst late that's reported, for any account, it's the only negative listing my reports at the moment. Goodwill, I forgot about that! So folks are still getting results with that? They have already closed the account, though, which is fine with me overall, but do you think that affects my chances at goodwill? Will they really be motivated to make the change for a non-customer? -m-
  5. Hi folks, I used to be a regular poster, but haven't really been back for a bit, lost my chops, so to speak. I have been dinged with a single delinquent payment from a bank to whom I have been making payments, but not quite in full. I received a credit card from a company who merged with PNC, and when that happened, their online access changed at the same time I moved to a new address. I was making automatic payments from my bank, but evidently they increased my minimum payment by $24 or so (it had previously been $96). My automatic payments continued, every month, but I didn't realize I was accruing outstanding payment amount due. They also made it very difficult to get my address changed, and to get online successfully with them. I couldn't get online until I changed my address, but they couldn't take the address change over the phone, while I wasn't getting statements because they were going to my old address (divorce) which I only went to infrequently. Stupid, I know, but there it is. So, I had been making payments, just not enough. When I found out I owed beyond the minimum payments, I made a rather hefty payment and brought everything up to date, but by then it was too late, the delinquent payment was already on the reports. So, bottom line, I was making payments, just not enough. Do I have the grounds to fight the delinquent payment notation on my reports? Thanks in advance for all your advice, I remember these boards fondly as I navigated the first time! -m-
  6. Congratulations! It's lovely when all that hard works pays off, isn't it? I see a happy dance in your near future. -m-
  7. Hi Folks, This morning I tried every single coupon code that has been used over the last few months, including everybody's faves: CPPSAVINGS and UNIONPLUS. Nada today, at least for me. I was fully prepared to spend $30 on my credit reports/scores today. Now they will get exactly $0 from me. Silly greedy FICO. -m- ETA: Hi Breezy!
  8. +1 As the others have said, yes I pay just about every monthly recurring bill with a CC except the rent, and get rewards. It can definitly be done, although YMMV in terms of which services will charge an extra fee for accepting a CC. Where I live, there are no extra fees. -m-
  9. I have USAA and Patelco, and neither of them decreased my CL when BOA and Barclays slashed me. The lovely irony is that the CUs gave me much higher limits to begin with, and frankly, after years of this board, I never really trusted the others anyway. I guess I'm just a fan of the CUs. -m-
  10. MyFICOis9 still working for 30% off scores. -m-
  11. Hi Breezy! As I continued to read I was beginning to feel that way, but you never know - sometimes something golden is so widespread and well-used that it's not even talked about anymore, folks just do it. Good looking out on the stall tactics and the previously verified. Two common weeds in every credit garden, right? Thank you again - I'll search and search and read 'til they bleed! Nice to be back! -m- ETA: Thanks to you too, Sherman!
  12. Hi Credit Boards! I've been a member for a long while, and owe my currently great credit to the great folks here. Although mine's fine, my brother is now in a position to badly need to take control of his, and has asked my help. I'm happy to do it, especially since he does not have internet access (Can you imagine? Unfathomable.) and since it's been a while, this really is a quick question. I know the drill (or generally what used to be the drill). I feel comfortable with just about everything he has to tackle. Most of it is out of his state's SOL, too, so it's really a matter of persistence and the correct approach. The trouble is he's been booted out of an apartment, and can't get into another one, so time is, as usual, of the essence. That being said, is there anything radically new and effective I should know about from the outset, or are all the tenets of PsychDoc's seminars still pretty much the gold standard? I have been trying to catch up and read about the so-called "623 Method", and it seems kin to the "1-2 Punch" of yore. Any new tricks the bureaus like to pull regularly? Newly formed pitfalls of the process? New credit cards with looser standards that will grow with him? (I know, I know...the economy.) Thanks so much in advance! -m-
  13. CPPSAVINGS still working. (PDT)
  14. Your scores will rebound soon, and be higher than they were with the baddie on there. Congrats for sure!! -m-
