I've been helping a co worker fix her credit for a few months now. Slowly, but surely, using the knowledge I've gained here we are making progress. I thought she would be a great candidate for a Discover card. They instantly denied her. Her EQ was 750 with no baddies. The reason for denial? Too many inquiries. 15 in the past 24 months. 9 in the past 6 months. We have reconned twice, but no luck. Is this common with Discover? Do you guys have a better number for recon? We called 888-676-3695. Thanks CB.

4 Days after my approval. Approved late last week, had access early this week. ETA: Happy Holidays Thanks for the speedy reply. If I still check the application status link, it says that it cannot find my application. Bofa is so large its not too efficient it seems.

Chase and Amex both show instantly online after approval. Is it true that Bofa takes 7-10 days to appear online? I just got approved the the privileges cards, but its not showing yet. Any thoughts, experiences? MERRY CHRISTMAS CREDITBOARDS!!

What are two cards you can't live without or want to age with?
msuh replied to a topic in Credit Forum
Heg, Any particular reason you can't live without the Palladium? The annual fee is $595, plus the rewards system is inferior to the CSP. It does have the hidden TL though. For me, the two cards are CSP and Amex PRG. -
It may seem that you to you personally. For example, if you have a baddie on your report, all of the denial letters will state this. Another example is if you have too many inquiries, all the denial letters will state this also. Or maybe you are right. Maybe CC's are harder to get approved during a certain season, such as before the holidays or during slow financial times such as after winter.

Hello CB, One of the credit cards I do not have a relationship with was Bofa. I had a mortgage with them that went through a short sale last year. My credit has since been much improved, so I thought I would give it a shot. See if I was on a Bofa blacklist. It was an instant 7-10 day message, but I immediately called the credit analyst. He asked the basic questions, and approved me for 15k. Happily, I hung up. That was November 18. The card still hadn't arrived, so I called back this morning. The credit analyst told me that I was declined. WTH?? He said that he did see the approval, but the analyst that approved me should have told me that all approvals are pending FINAL approval from their upper managers. And that the upper manager denied me because of the recent short sale. My income and credit scores were fine, just the short sale. He said "sorry" halfheartedly. Ok, I understand that I can be flat out denied for credit. Its fine, its happened to me before. But to approve someone over the phone, especially for such a high amount, and then to tell them they are not approved, especially after not following up is not good business practice. I told him this, and I also told him that the only way to make this ok with me is to erase the hard credit inquiry. He said he could not, and sensing that I would not get anywhere with this person, I thanked him and hung up. Of course I am going to call back and recon. But who? The same credit analysts? I have several phone numbers for Bofa/FIA. If you have a good number/contact to call, please let me know. Just a little about me. All 3 of my scores are in the mid 700's, my AAOA and credit file is thick, and my income is over 130k/yr. I have several credit cards with limits over 20k, including one at 37.5k. Please assist.. Thanks CB.

I emailed the CEO and complained about my $750 limit. I got a call from the executive office, and they asked how much increase I was looking for. I told her I have limits from prime banks of over 37k, 15k and so on and so forth. She says she'll put in the request and today I got a call that my limit is now 5k. Its ok, I will never use the card, but I'm just happy with an increase without a hard pull from C1. We all know they are notorious for never giving increases. The executive office is the way to go!
