  1. You can get a real good deal with a short sale. The bad side is it does take time. It took me threatening to walk to get the other bank to finally approve the price. the kept telling me the paper work was in final processing or that I had to start the final processing on my mortgage costing me money. I got really tired of it and took the bull by the horns. 24 hrs later I had the approval for the sale. After that everything went smooth. You have to be patient, but don't let the other side push you around. Also make sure they are only presenting a single offer at a time to the bank. It helped me.
  2. Complaints and letters to CEOs always seem to get results on restocking fees. Also although Worst Buy sells Mac's the salamanderSquad techs are not Apple Certified so don't believe them as far as you can throw them with your Mac. As far as Apple's go, buy it from Apple's online store or a real Apple Store, also some towns have small mom and pop apple resellers. these are good too. Also as a certified Apple Tech I recomend getting Apple care for your Mac, it is backed by Apple and not some lame box store like Worst Buy who would have to send you Mac to Apple anyway. As a previous poster mentioned yes the new Macs are 90% PC components, but I never saw my Mac get a Blue Screen of Death. The quality of Apple's products make them worth the price. Not to mention when I baught my MacBook in May It was 2 months before the PC makers started installing the graphics chip I have and the 2.4gig Core2s only started showing up in PC notebooks just recently. Not to mention the LED backlit display.
  3. Security clearances are easy to get and for the most part you choose who the governmet interviews for Classified, Secret and TS clearances as the form asks for references of prople you have known for a period of time. The form also asks for criminal history and credit information. Put everything down on criminal history and credit. Any minor traffic violations older than 3 years can be left off. Most of all do not refuse to answer, lie or dodge any questions an investigator asks. My credit was a huge issue with my last check, but it was resolved with a 10 minute phone conversation with the security officer.
  4. In general here is how field loss works. 1. A solder signs for and is financially responsible for the equipment hes/he is issued. This is everything from your underwear to the vehicle that you drive. 2. If a piece of equipment is missing weather it is due to combat or duh i lost it. You pay for it. The problem with this is if you are evaced due to injury you are separated from your gear, weapons, armor the works. If your buddy doesn't scoff it up then it goes into the lost column and you bought it. The unit commander does have some discression and funds for "field Loss" but this fund is usually used for unit equipment and only used for individual equipment on rare occasions, and there isn't usually much money anyway. 3. If equipment is damaged and you have it, it can be Discarded and exchanged through the supply system. You turn the damaged equipment into the supply sgt and he requests a replacement throught the supply chain. If the damaged equiment was damaged due to neglgence or is expensive like body armor or a tank then a report of suvey is done and the damage is investigated. If thhe survy officer determins its your fault the equipment was damaged you bought it. I broke a CUCV (Chevy Blazer) while i was a ft knox, I ran the thing into the woods. The MPs investigated the accident, but it was raining and by the time they got there they could not determine anything as the tracks where washed out by rain. The CO has a report of survey done, They estimated all the parts and damages for the vehicle. came out to 5,000. OUCH. I looked at the damage sheet and all the parts where in the bone yard at the facility where the vehicle was being repaired. Talked to JAG and they told the CO to take the parts off the list. Wound up paying 1200 for labor and paint, 300 for labor and 900 for paint. Needless to say i didnt get a paycheck the next month. Soldiers are held accountable for thier equipment, but the army has not delt with losses like this in almost 40 years and they are confused on how to deal with it. The key for soldiers not to have to pay for equipment is to maintain contact with thier units and make sure statements are written and submitted when a loss does occur and mae sure they beat the army to the paperwork and to make sure thier chain of command knows a piece of eqipment is lost as soon as it happens
  5. BofA ignores chex entries over 3 years old. The hard inq appears if you apply for a check card when you open your account.

  9. FCRA - Each item of information that is correct is a violation. FDCPA - Making a false statement abute the character ans ststus of a debt. Attempting to collect on a debt which s known to be false. Others can think up half a dozen more.
  10. Certigy is a check reporting and guarentee service similar to Telecheck. Merchants that use Certigy will deny any checks you write to them until this is paid. Paying them will clear your name off thier database and the debt. Pay them using money order of certified check. They will not accept a personal check as a payment for a bad check.
  11. Every time they verified after a timely DV is an FDCPA violation for continued collection action. A JDB or CA NEVER has to validate a debt after a timely DV. They just cannot collect until they do. If your DV is not timely, they can just blow you off and continue to collect.
  12. Pencil, uh I think NOT!! Decimal placed tend to mysteriously change with pencils.
