Can someone please tell me what is the best way to get a CLI from Discover? My last was in Nov. 2012 and it was only for $500 and was a soft pull. My card will be a year old next month and is one of my lowest cards. Anyone have any suggestions? I tried online but it keeps telling me it can't be completed online and stated I needed to call. I realize it's going to be hard. That's seems to be all they do.

Well I can't say this is the BEST ...but, my first few CLI's were done automatically and were not solicited by me. 1st one was for $500 bucks and the 2nd one, just a month and a half after the 1st one was for $250. I waited 4 months and CALLED in and spoke with someone in charge of CLI's. I just used the regular 800 number.

He said he saw that my credit was good. Asked me about a $19,000 dollar balance I had on one card (had just done a 0% transfer hence the high balance). Asked could he do a Hard pull because I wanted a high CLI, $6,000 CLI. Asked what I was planning on using it for and I said home improvement. He came back less than 2 minutes later and said "CONGRATS", your NEW CL is $12,750.00

Said thanks and immediently started to B* it off my TU report :)

So that's the best way that I can say but as always YMMV.

Good Luck

Call them, use this number 1-800-550-0754. I spoke to them last week about an online increase which required me to call in. They ask for approval to do a hard inquiry and then went over items on my report. 2 auto loans a mortgage my only real balance was on my credit cards was from my Amex charge card. The reasoning I used for the CLI was for home improvement and that I wanted to take advantage of the 5% cash back this quarter. Worked like a charm! FYI I've used that reason twice and both resulted in an increase. Last year got me up to $10k this last CLI got me to $15k.

+1 to just call them and just tell them what you want your CL to be. Should wait 6mo for new account. They're really nice and will talk through with you any particulars that might require explaining. It will cost you 1 or more HP, but if you want to jump $5k or so, then you have to call. Otherwise, wait for the autos which could be $200 or $2000 at any given 6mo increment of account age.

Card started out as a decline two years ago, that I recodned to 1 k .

Was at 1 k for first six months.

They are very nice.

Was feeling antsy off my Penfed approval and called this number. Dedicated CLI department. Cost a TU hard... I was currently at 1k and it was annoying to have to pay it down over the course of a month so frequently.

The guy was super efficient... looked over my stats... said it didn't make sense why I was denied as other limits from top tier CCs were way higher. Asked me what I wanted.... I asked for 6k... hoping he'd counter with at least 4k or even 5k.

He came back and said not only did he the 6k but he got me up to 8k. Well worth the pull! Thanks for the number. I am truly now so happy! Discover was the last thorn in my side CC wise!
