So I applied online for a bank of america account and had to call to verify some account info and the account is now opened.

I'm not sure though if I should fund it with very little for a month to see if it closes or If I'm in the clear. I have some entries on chex.

But its been about 4 years since I had anything at BOA

Why would u expect it to close? Are u thinking that they're going to further review ur situation? I think if it says it's open, and u have already gone through their verification process, you're good to go. I believe that even if you have negatives on ur ChexSystems report, if they have all been paid, ur okay. I have heard of people getting accounts opened conditionally, contingent upon whatever debt u have on Chex being paid first. If ur negatives are already paid, and they are from 4 years ago, I would not worry.

Are you saying that you had an account at BOA that was closed and reported to chexsystems?

But if you do have anything on Chex or EWS it will be shut down probably before you get the debit cards.. I know a couple people who applied recently and got approved but by the time they for their debit cards the accounts were already shut down. Hide something either on Chex or EWS. Pretty common for BOA to do that.

Assuming it was never paid?

That's correct it was back in 2009

If they closed ur acct, and u didn't pay them, why would u try to open a new account with them, especially since u clearly understand how ChexSystems works?

Ur initial post states u have some entries on ChexSystems, and no business with BOA in 4 years, I didn't figure u were referring to them closing ur acct, or that u still owe money to them directly. If I were them, I would wait until u fund the new acct, and then get the money u still owe out of it!!! And if they approved an account, that is probably what they have planned...

I made a mistake and I guess I can't be perfect like you. The reason I went back was because I wanted a second chance.

Since your being rude and uppity I will never post on this board again. Have a great night and try not to drown when your walking on water

I am so sorry. Don't leave! I am far from perfect. I don't blame u for opening a new account, I just don't think it should have been with BOA.

Come back, and don't u dare walk away from me!!!

Chances are the account will be closed once it gets a second look. Good news is it will drop off Chex in a year.

Even if for some reason the account stayed open BOA may not be able to touch the money due to the SOL. That would be considered right to set off as its known where they can take money from one account to cover the debt of another within the same bank. But it could be a possibility and not sure if I would take the chance.

I see that the record was also from 2009... so I am not certain I would trust the account but if you are going to give it a try, just never have all of your money in this one account. That way if they do freeze and close the account at some point, you would be okay. They may be trying to get back the money that you owe them too... we have seen this happen recently quite a bit
