Hi,

About a year ago I got sick and had to visit the emergency room on 3 different occasions. I paid some bills as they cam in but quickly was overwhelmed. No Insurance at the time.

Now the bills are starting to come into collections and I would like to deal with them a few at a time. I have 4 on my collections right now. I had perfect credit before all this Fico score was 780 and has dropped to 635 Ouch.

Here is the problem. I can only take care of three of those bills right now. Can I start the process with three bills and do the same later with the 4th and others are likely to come into collections also.

Can I deal with the bills I can handle a few at a time? Also, If you have no idea who the OC how can I find out. Do I start here?

Do I opt out now or?

Thank you for this great forum.

Ok, I got my credit reports and filling out this letter to the CA agencies.

http://www.whychat.5.../hipaadisp.html

I don't want to make a mistake so I am going to ask a dumb question. I dont completely understand two lines in the letter.

1. I have no knowledge or records of account # xxxxx from xxxxxx on my report # xxxxx

What would be my report # xxxxx?

2. What does RR mean? Do I send this registered mail?

Thank you.

Opt out

The initial dispute letter goes to the CRAs,( Credit Reporting Agencies) using REAL reports ,To order, visit annualcreditreport.com,or call 1-877-322-8228

The reason you don't understand the lines " I have no knowledge or records of account # xxxxx from xxxxxx on my report # xxxxx" is because you have not read the instructions.

RR means return receipt, you send the initial dispute ( after opting out)certified ONLY without a return receipt requested

to the CRAs not to the CAs

I made a mistake. Before I found this forum I paid a CA over the phone with my credit card. I told them I was willing to pay if they deleted this collections off of my reports, well of course they are still there. Since i had quite a few to dispute i missed it and included it in the dispute letters to the CRA's.

The collections agency is FRANKLIN COLLECTION.

Should i wait on the results of the disputes or did i mess up?

Thank you.

By the way, The collection shows paid on TansUnion but not on Equifax,

the amount was $850

Paying a CA is a BIG mistake. Paying over the phone with a credit card is a DANGEROUS mistake.

I suggest you request a new credit card from that credit card company.

Do not change your disputes.

I received a response from TransUnion today. I had two collections reported with them. They deleted one and verified the other. Thats a great start but what do I do next?

I am still waiting for responses from the other two CRA's.

Experian Letter came today.

It's a strange response. It basically says:

"If I question something on my report I need to dispute it with the person reporting it"

I'm pretty lost at this point.

Why Chat?
What do I do now after the first round?

The next step is to send the medical DV to each CA that is reporting.
You need a separate letter for each CRA they are reporting to, mailed in the same CMRR or CM envelope.
http://www.whychat.5...cavalhipaa.html

You then send the follow up dispute to the CRA with a copy of THEIR letter and a copy of the proof of delivery.
http://www.whychat.5...aa.html#DISPUTE

You obviously didn't get the results you wanted from paying the one CA via phone, if it is still reporting as unpaid send them the same medical DV, if they changed the report to a "paid" collection, then send them this:
http://www.whychat.5...hipaa.html#PAID

P.S. I saw your e-mail, if you scroll to the bottom of my website you will see contribution instructions.
