I got into NFCU knowing that I want to app for their CC products once I can close on my house in Oct/Nov. In the meantime, what should I do to build a relationship? I signed up for basic checking, although I don't really need it right now.

They really love it when you have your direct deposit going to the account (checking or savings) that you have with them

Just sit tight and wait. NFCU is good to their members. Maybe open a savings and make a deposit.

Do the happy dance.

Having money in checking and savings and a DD setup is always encouraged by them but had no impact when my wife applied for their Visa. She still got an awesome offer right out of the gate and only had the $5 sitting in savings.
