Non-Chase Star card and separation from the military.

What happens when you separate? Does it automatically get shut off? Is it possible to be a civilian and own a CHASE star card? Is it possible to upgrade a non-chase to a chase?

"Authorized Exchange Customers

 

The Catalog and Exchange Online Store are for the exclusive use of authorized Exchange customers throughout the world.

 

This includes:

• Active Duty Military
  
• Retirees
  
• Reserves
  
• National Guard personnel
  
• US Civilian DoD employees, when stationed outside of the US
  
• Department of State Officials serving in foreign countries
  
• and dependents of the above
  

If you can shop for retail merchandise at your local Exchange, you are authorized to order from the Catalog and Exchange Online Store.

Some CB'ers say AAFES still reports as open on their Credit Reports after separation, but I'm not sure if they have tried to use them.

I have a non-Chase Star card. I have still been able to use the card and access the Exchange online store with no problems since my discharge in 2007.

mine was cut off but I have been out since 2003.. so I don't know if it is any different now... If I remember, it didn't take them long to shut it down either - something like 90 days...
