I can't file until I get one more 1099-div. I called the firm in question and was told they will start mailing them on 2/16 !!!! and online access to the 2009 forms will start a week after that!!!!

IIRC w-2s have to be mailed by 1/31. what about other tax forms?

Deadline appears to be Feb. 15 or the next business day for 1099-B. Feb. 15 is President's Day this year.

ETA: Should have refreshed before I posted ;)

The deadline for 1099-DIV is Jan. 31, but you're probably getting a 1099-B or a composite. Starting last year, the deadline for 1099-B was extended to Feb. 15. Since that's a federal holiday this year, they have until Feb. 16 to mail them. I'm in the same boat. ;)

If you're invested in REITs at all, you may want to hold off a few extra weeks before filing. We've seen many 1099s amended after the fact due to reallocation (between dividends and cap gain distributions) from REITs. Usually your brokerage will send you a corrected statement, but that's little help if you've already filed your return...
