A couple of months ago I opened a BestBuy store card.

I made some purchases in the begining and received my first mailed statement with no problems so I switched to just getting my statement online.

As I have a set payment each month to them, the past 3 months I have not checked my statements until today. This is when I noticed a $9.99 charge for Credit Keeper for the past 3 statements.

I remembered when I called them towards the end of my first statement period as they did not have my correct email address, the foreign CSR asked me several times about Credit Keeper but every time I said NO!

I called BestBuy today and asked how this was added to my account without my authorization. I was told that it would have only have been added upon my request. I asked him to look into how this happened and after several minutes on hold, he said he did not know but I should call another number to try and find out.

Annoyed, I called this number which was Credit Keeper direct. I was told that it was added after I REQUESTED it on a call. I informed the CSR that I had never done so. She then tried to explain the benefits of Credit Keeper and tried to offer it to me at $6.99 /mo.

I told her again that I did not want the service and never signed up for it, espically as I already have a credit monitoring service that I was happy with.

After some banter with her she said that she would talk to a supervisor. When she came back I was told that they would cancel the service and credit me with the charges made.

I will be checking my online statements closely from now on!

This is just a FYI to other to do the same! B)

OMG! My son bought a laptop back to April 2009 with 18 months interest free payment. He did not check close his statement until today and he noticed that he was charged with $9.99 each month. We are both shocked and called Best buy card service and was told that he signed creditkeeper program, which of course my son said that he never signed anything. Then the customer rep said that we need to call another number to get this resolved. That is totally blindsided!!!We'll find out tomorrow since they already closed today.

They pushed this on me really hard when I activated my BBRZ card a few weeks ago. I eventually caved in and agreed to it because it is much cheaper than the current credit monitoring service I use.
