I been playing this for awhile :) Was just turned down for a gas card because of it! I have the following listings: Nebs, Viking, Staples, UPS, Uline, Lowes, Fed-X and still no patdex score, and only 2 reporting and it's been 3 months about. It appears that D&B wont list or allow my vendors to report?

I read that it might take a while for some companies to report. I was told some companies only report every quarter while others report every month. I agree DB won't let your vendors report unless they are large companies that automatically report to DB. I think you can get a Paydex without paying for it if you wait a little bit longer.

Don't give up. I started getting tradelines in feb and I just got my paydex number within the past week. I refused to talk to those people on the phone and decided to do everything by email. My number came quickly. Just apply online and see what happens.

ITA!! I refuse to do business with reps that are lying to us. Selling is not lying. They probably could have sold a lot of people, by emphasizing what it would do for us, me included.

But - when they lie, to try to force you to do it, I get real stubborn. I won't deal with them.

I think the best advice regarding the D & B situation is to be patient. You are not going to build a good solid credit profile in a week or a few weeks. It is easy to get caught up in the thrill of acquiring new credit, but it takes years to build a solid profile, just as it did when you first turned 18 and were able to start building consumer credit. It is going to happen. Unless you are dying to have a profile in 60 days or less, for whatever reason, just take a breath and take it easy, allow your trade lines to report and check your D & B profile weekly. That way you will be able to get a general idea of who is reporting. If you happen to get a ding dong rep at D & B, ask for a supervisor and correspond through email. That way they can't "salesman" you into buying Creditbuilder. Tell them what you know to be true, that CB can be purchased for 399, you arent' going to pay any more and you want the truth! Keep asking for supervisors, CSRs don't want to get into trouble!

You aren't going to get much out of CB unless you have a few tradelines reporting or willing to report anyway. If you do buy CB, DO NOT pay more than 399.00 or 399-10% with a CC payment. Not 499, not any other price. Wait a few months and quietly build your credit. If you are not getting the results, then buy Creditbuilder if you want to establish your biz credit quickly. What is three months in the grand scheme of things anyway? Also I would ask the rep specific questions..

Exactly how many TL will generate a PayDex score?

Are any TL exempt from the equation in generating the score such as smaller mom & pop business?

How long will I have to wait for a PAyDex score?

Do they guarantee a PD score for paying the 400 bucks?

Ask a lot of questions and have them email it to you so that it is in writing.

Just my 2 cents.

horsedr, thanks for the tips.

Got a call from a "Sr. Analyst" from D & B today. More smoke-blowing, but went over all their prods. anyway; kept coming back to the "fact" that one can't establish an "active" file w/o paying D & B something. I kept asking the question about reporting cos. and a paydex. He said not possible to have a paydex w/o an "active" file. Also, w/o an "active" file, I could never see any TLs.

So, more lies based on what I've read here. But was offered "ProductScope" for $225.

So, once again, let me ask what might be a very redundant question:

Has anyone NOT paid D & B any $$$, began with a "marketing file" and then obtained a paydex? If so, how long did it take, how did you know when someone began reporting, and how did you get those cos. to report? Also, where did you see what TLs were reporting?

Thanks

So give us your blow by blow...did you sign up via internet or phone call? Did you give vendors your D&B #, How did you find out what the # was?

Spill it Mom!!

Hey, no rough stuff!!!! :8)

I signed up for it online. In fact, I think I had to do it twice because it didn't take the first time. I believe it came in a week. DNB called and verified some things and then she went on a sales pitch about creditbuilder and I told her that I wasn't prepared to make such a decision over the phone and I had her email me the stuff. That was it. A week or so later, I received my number in an email and perhaps it was followed up with a letter but the memory comes and goes.

From there, I applied for credit and if the vendor asked for the #, I supplied it. I've been denied for sam's club, officemax, and a billing account with fedex, but now with the paydex, there has not been a problem.

I never paid D&B either. I submitted company information online several years ago and recieved a DUNS number. They have called many times to try and push the credit builer, but I always decline.

My first business CC was Staples(citi) in 02. Last fall I got a pre-approved offer from Home Depot(citi) was approved and just more recently BP Amoco. I returned the BP application and was denied because our D&B rating no longer meets approval criteria. Just shows that you will eventually get a D&B credit rating without paying their stupid fees.
