I have been paying our bills for nearly two years I thought I knew about every thing, I guess I was wrong. My DH never paid medical bills, I don’t know why, but he just didn’t.

I find myself in a similar situation to mitochoan, but of course mine is more complicated,

I received a letter from a C/A that says we be reporting the following account from hospital PDQ, to certain CRA in 30 days, if you want to settle …..

My daughter was the patient, the hospital is not state or county and the account has not been written off. I am able to PIF, $595.11, This account is under my married name.

I thought I could use the same letter for mitochoan, but then I started to worry.

The same C/A is holding another account, from the same hospital that I have been making monthly payments on, this has not reported to any CRA. They alway reciev e they payemnt on time, it is set up on Auto debit (I know I did this before CB, been meaning to fix it, I just haven't had the time) This account is from a stroke I had 8 days after my 40th Birthday, my DH didn’t show me the bills because he didn’t want to stress me out. This account (the stroke account) is under my maiden name.

I have tried to delete old address and incorrect names and I did get a lot off but, 90% of my credit is in my maiden name but our mortgage and 1 cc is under my married name, so they both keep coming back.

I am worried, that paying my daughter's bill this will trigger another similar letter regarding my stroke account, but of course I don't want it to hit my CR either. I would rather pay $100.00 a month than have to cough up 2,000.00 right now.

Do you have any input or suggestions. Or am I just paranoid?

Were you responsible for your daughter's bills?? Was she signed in by you or under your insurance?? How old was she when her treatment ocurred??

Have you opted out??

If you were not legally responsible for her bill, and she was over 18 at the time, you should send the CA the medical DV:

If you WERE responsible for her bill, and can pay it, then you can do so with the HIPAA letter insert "a"

Use the name it was billed under, and the patient's name and SS # and date of service, follow the directions.
