Chexsystems is a CRA governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other laws.Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA) amendments to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you are entitled to a free copy of your consumer report once every year. It is very important to know exactly what is reported on your chexsystems report. The reason it is important to know what is on your report is because it may determine what options are available to you when you begin to look for an account. Remember under the (FCRA) it is your right to dispute with chexsystems.

yes it can't hurt for sure. I would venture to guess you won't be on there but it never hurts to check. Most people have no idea they are reported to chexsystems until they try to open an account and are denied. Many have never even heard of what chexsystems is.

Xecuter2 NO, chances are you would not have been reported to chexsystems. I guess it can't hurt to check the same as you would check any CRA file but I really don't think you have anything to worry about

The FCRA only requires they be able to confirm your identity. All that is needed is your name, current address, date of birth and social security number. For banking account matters, they would need your bank and account number as well. If it is an old account then tell them you no longer have an account at any bank
