I went to a local bank here in Tulsa, Oklahoma to open an account for the LLC. A customer told us about this bank and I said sure why not.

The lady opening the account filled everything out. Then she runs Chex. She comes back and tells me she can't open the account because I have four entires on Chexsystems from four years ago. (I'm aware they will fall off soon). I asked her if a letter from the bank showing it was paid would suffice and she said no. She said I could not get an account there until these items fall off. She then went on to say you must have debt at a bank for the business. I laughed because the LLC was opened in October and we have no debt for the LLC owed to any bank.

I was nice to her... but what made me even more mad was the fact that she owns the bank. She did not even know what Check 21 was. I explained to her that I own my business and I wanted to bank with them because of their location. I was sent out the door.

Chexsystems shows four entries from Bank of America. All are the same account number, one is fraud, another is account abuse, nsf activity etc. Then the other is a secured credit card that I defaulted on... and they charged off something on the savings account.

I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. I hate Chexsystems. I kinda miss Chexvictims.com

Canadian Banks

Another option is opening U.S. Dollar checking account at a Canadian bank that operates within the United States. For example, many people open accounts in Canada before moving there, so it is a fairly common process. You will need a valid U.S. driver's license, state identification card, or a passport. Canadian Banks that will open accounts to U.S. residents are:

Bank of Montreal

Canada Trust

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce

Royal Bank of Canada

Scotia Bank

Whoa! Did you get that from MCA?

BOK is a total no no. My oldest deliquency is almost five years old. :D

Sound like you new you should not have tried to open a checking account, if you know about MCA then what are you asking.

I didn't know about mca. but I'm not in chex either

I used to belong to Chexvictims.com until it went down. MCA and I posted quit a bit back in the day.

I am going to write the lady and letter and let her know that I came there because I thought they made local decisions and were different from all the other banks. make her feel a lil bit guilty. Then drop the name of a friend of mine who has millions with them.

Hi MCA

I posted your list from the pinned forum, I didn't realize you had a website and all that or I would of given you credit. I haven't read that thread before and was only trying to share the info.

I know some of my tenants are in CHEX, I'll tell them about it.

Tophie,

I am sorry I just realized what you had said...there is a new location there ( Tulsa ) for the bank listed below. I am kinda shocked that the bank you went to would run your name through chexsystems and not the name of the business. many banks only run the corp or the LLC now. This is an excellent choice ..many of the banks on the list that was posted above are no longer chex-friendly

CITY NATIONAL BANK AND TRUST

Does not use chexsystems or telecheck

-has 17 locations statewide.

-must visit a branch with proper ID to get an account.

To open an account with City National Bank and Trust you must appear in person at a branch with proper ID. Our branch locations are listed on the website. Thank you for your interest and please let us know if you have any other questions.

I asked if they use chexsystems, telecheck, or a credit report..here was the reply

I have accounts at City National but it's the conveyence I want. :)

City National is a great bank though.

I'm going to try Chase next. I just faxed them the signature cards.

Sorry to hear it; that does NOT sound like a fun experience.

I'm told that in Minnesota, Highland Bank may be able to open an account, and KleinBank may be able to open an account, depending on why you're on Chex and the amount of time that has passed.

Best of luck to you!

I think the guy went crazy and got paranoid and took it off line. I offered to buy the site from him, he claimed it was a database but we know thats not the case. It's a shame because that site was so awesome.

tophie,

You can not imagine how devistated I was. The admin was a friend to me, much more than just someone that owned the board. He had sent my son gifts in the recent months before he closed the board.

I will tell you this much, he claimed to me that he did not have time and it was for personal reasons. I believe otherwise after looking into the situation more so. From what I can tell, I may be wrong but I don't believe I am, he was using it as a data base as you just said. However he did not advertise the site and he has a lot of security involved in it so it was not that easy to find. Most people searching chexsystems would never find chexvictims. it is my belief from the connections that I was able to make that he was then taking the info off the board and selling it on various other sites that he DID advertise. Of course these sites were easy to find. Months before the board was removed, the traffic had increased heavily from the things that I had been doing to get the " word out " about Chexvictims. I believe Chexvictims was actually giving his other sites too much competition.

I cried and cried over the situation and for months I stopped helping people completely. He refused to give me the information from the board, even though in this blog he wrote back in Feb, he says he knows the moderators ran the site. One of the other moderators there was very upset that she could not recover any of her information there as well. And I was also told by other forum owners that he did not have to spend the money he is claiming in this blog as well.

If he was to bring it back, I would NOT participate on it ever again. At one point before he finally took it down, he wanted me to start from scratch and make an entire new board. I thought he was crazy after the time I had spent on the board when he converted it the time before that to a new server and community. I refused, and the board fell apart, then he closed it. From what he has told me, he will not be putting it back up ever. He had told me that years before I was on the board that it was there and did okay but once I was there is when it finally really took off and became as popular as it was.

Wow, it's incredible he would just take down the board entirely, that board had a ton of useful information and obviously reflected the hard work and efforts of a lot of people. Very selish act.
