Okay, so I was playing with the Cap1 card designer. I've been planning which cards to apply for once my BK is discharged.

And then, the little CW devil came and sat on my shoulder, and said - all you have to do is press that button. That one. Right there. What have you got to lose?

I thought, well, if I DO apply now, I'll probably get rejected, because my BK is not discharged yet. But then I thought, well, if that happens, I have to wait 60 days to apply again, but then, my discharge will have happened by then already. So, it'll cost me an INQ on all three, but with scores this low, that's not going to have much of an impact is it? And then I thought, well, I'll also probably get locked into a $300 card with no ability to get CLIs.

But...I have an itchy trigger finger... 1% cash back, 12.9% variable, 25% cash bonus at the end of the year sounded REALLY good to someone in my position....so I pulled the trigger.

APPROVED! $1000 CL!

I'm still in shock. For someone with my scores and my BK, that's pretty damned good, even if it is a Crap1 card.

Even if something happens and Crap1 realizes my BK isn't discharged yet (but it's on all three CRs as a public record and IIBed accounts - I don't see how they couldn't know) and decides to yank the card, I'm just right back where I started, and I'm not really any worse off. My scores can't get much lower. I guess I just sort of felt I had nothing to lose.

I just hope - as WhyChat's siggy says - I didn't just get myself into some "unforeseen consequences."

Yeah, I know that's how rebuilding starts - I just didn't expect to be able to start it two days after my 341! LOL

ETA: Oh, and I WILL take care of it. I'm going to set up auto bill pay to make sure it gets PIF each month on time, every time. I've gotten anal about checking all my bank accounts every day to make sure I don't have any surprises - Cap One will be monitored very, very closely, especially since I know firsthand what sneaky antics they're capable of (I worked there for a while as a temp. LOL)

Seems to work that way for me too. Sometimes its nice to be bad! :D

Congrats!!!!

It could be that having had multiple accounts there in the past (I think I included them in CCCS, but paid them in full) worked to my advantage. I really don't know. Honestly, I'm as shocked as you are (but excited!) :):)

Mimi, you probably got denied because you're destined for bigger & better things than Crap1. :D

I'm filing 7, not 13. In a 13, you're not allowed to apply for new credit before discharge without special permission, but a 7 doesn't have that restriction.

I seem to remember it wasn't a good idea to apply before discharge of a 7, either, but I THINK that's only because you weren't likely to be approved.

That's why I started this thread - it could be I'm missing something, and I want to make sure I'm not. But as far as I know, there's nothing that could get me in trouble - the worst that could happen - AFAIK - is losing the TL because Cap1 realizes I'm not discharged yet.

I felt so jealous of your approval and knew I had no chance of getting an approval, but still went to the card designer went for the No AF and 9 months 0% APR and applied, switched to another tab on firefox cause I did not want to see the rejection come in

Returned couple minutes later and wow!!! a whopping 300 CL but an approval. Now maybe wait a couple months and combine with my other Cap1.

Wow! Major big-time Congrats! You're off to a great start in your post-bk rebuilding.

(bk-wise, once you've filed Ch7, get on with your life. Any new debt you acquire post-petition is not part of your bk filing. It is a little different for Ch13, as you've already noted.)

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Thank you, Pasquale! :D I'm SO relieved to know I can just relax and enjoy my new-found creditworthiness! Woot! You've just made my day! :D
