Saturday I called Macy's customer service and asked for a credit line increase from the outsourced customer service rep in India. I was patient and spoke clearly. "I started a new job, and with spring around the corner, I would love to use my Macys card, but with such a small $300 limit, there's not much I can do and I been an excellent customer since 1999, is there anything you can do?".
I was put on hold for aprox 5 minutes, he checked on me once during this period. He came back with, "I'm sorry Sunshine, I cannot give you a credit limit increase at this time". I asked "What is the reason WHY...he kept repeating the same freaking statement over and over again "I cannot give you a credit limit increase at this time". That's not an answer....I ask a question, you provide an answer, not that difficult!

OMG are you kidding me!!!!

I emailed Macys customer service this:
I just got off the phone with customer service to request a credit line
> increase because I want to do spring shopping on my Macys card, but with
> a $300 limit, there is not much I can do. I've been a customer since
> 1999, I have always been on time with my payments and you can't tell me
> WHY I am denied a credit limit increase after reviewing my account? I
> look forward to paying off my measly balance I owe Macys and never using
> the card again.

The very next day I get this from Macys:
Dear Sunshine,
>
> Thank you for taking the time to contact us about your Macy's account.
> I was happy to review your request.
>
> Your guideline was increased on 4/4/07

The outcome.....Credit line increased to $2000!

I usually don't care about credit line increases especially on retail cards, but I had share.

Congrats on the CLI! And you will still probably get a letter from them stating they could NOT give you one - be interesting to hear what they said.

I just got an increase on my Macy's but they wouldn't give me one on the bloomies card. Said it hasn't been three months but I i know that I got them both on the same day last time! Maybe I'll try back next week....
