Hi all. I'm baffled as to how proceed on this one. I posted about a week ago about a CA that was on my report, but the OC has been deleted. I wanted to know if I DV'd the collection agency if the OC might report again on my CRs. Well, I don't know how or why...but now the CA is gone as well! I was really happy about that, until yesterday...

When I received a letter from the CA again about the debt. I'm willing to pay it, just because it's mine, but I don't want it to show up on my report again. Any idea of how to handle this?

FYI: OC = student loan

CA = Premiere Credit Services

I was thinking that maybe I could make an agreement to pay it, if they make an agreement not to report it. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!!!! Getting both the OC and the CA off my reports should give me a boost in my scores. I haven't checked myfico yet but I will do it at the end of the week when another CA is due to fall off.

Well obviously you have a student loan in default. Premiere is a agency for the US DOE. I read your other post....student loans reporting do not go from the DOFD....they go from the claim paid date, so it is possible that the OC will reappear on your credit report.

Regardless of your credit, you better start paying it before they start garnishing your wages. It is always possible that this was a FFELP loan. FFELP loans get subrogated to the feds, which start the 7 year reporting cycle all over again. Arguing at this point with a guarantor and CA is bringing attention to yourself, which will start them looking harder at your account.

it's not a federal loan. it's a loan from the state of ak. i don't have a problem paying it although they have tacked on a lot of interest! Im just wondering what the chances are that i can enter into an arrangment where they don't report it again to the CRAs. i can't figure out why either the OC or the CA were deleted in the first place!

You have a lot to learn ...state of Alaska is a FFELP student loan lender. FEDERAL FAMILY EDUCATION LOAN PROGRAM!!! They follow the rules of the Higher Education Act which compels them to report accurately. And as I said before, you are PRIME to be subrogated by the FEDS, which comes with another 7 year reporting cycle. READ THE FORUM!!

Lynn:

Obviously I do need to read!! I don’t have a problem with paying it. I will contact them immediately. I’m just curious as to whether you think that once I do, they may start reporting to the CRAs again, since they aren’t on there anymore. I still can’t figure out why they deleted themselves since I never DV’d them.

If the account is past the 7 year point from the date the claim was paid, not the DOFD, they will not report. However if it is less than 7 years, they are free to post again and there is nothing you can do about it.

Thanks LynnInMN. I got the student loan in 1993, and the last time I paid on it was around 2003. With that information, would it be likely that they will post again?? I apologize if I seem dumb about all of this!!! :D
