Dh has a fico of 648. We owe 24 months on our van at 324.00 a month(276.00 is our normal payment, but we have collision thru them so pay 324.00 a month) I don't know what our interest is exactly, it was second chance financing then cause we had a repo and civil judgement on our credit then..but they came off in march 06. Since then, dh has added 10 new tradelines and all are about to have a 0 balance on all of them as we are paying off the small balances in the next two weeks. I know we pay at least 19% interest on the van...probably a little more, but I know its not less than 19%. So what are the chances of refinancing..dh doesn't want to refinance for more than 30 months though...trying to pay it off quickly, not drag it out for 3-4 more years. kwim? But it would be nice to have a little smaller payment and less interest. If so..where do I go to refinance?? You can pm too if needed.

Forgot to say we owe about 8,000.00 on it and it has between 75,000-80,000 miles on it...not sure..not in front of me at the moment. Oh, and its fiananced through Regional Acceptance(our payment book has a north carolina address onit, but I pay to austin texas over the phone) and we have never been late in payments with them, have one paid off auto that was paid off in 2002 with one 30 day late. And Asshat that keeps updating interest..still fighting them on this. But their the only other negative.

Look up the book value with your options, miles, etc. If you owe much more than "private party sale" value it's going to get harder to refinance.

I think you'll get a much better deal buying your own insurance, as well as having the protection of driving with insurance. The insurance the lenders force on you usually only protects them. For example if you have a collision it may not pay anything unless you also default on the payments and have the car repo, and you of course don't want to do that.
