Online Stock Trade

I've done a little research and it seems that e*trade and sharebuilder are two of the best and most reasonably priced out there.

 

Any other suggestions from those of you who are well versed in the online stock trade?

Very few induvidual stock pickers can beat a simple index fund.

Put your money in TRowe Price or Vangaurd.

Can you give me a little more insight into the simple index fund? (I'm not exactly an investment genius by any means...so any assistance is greatly appreciated!) We are basically looking for yet another way to build a retirment fund for the future. Comparing an index fund to say a Roth IRA...which is the better route? I don't want anything overly volatile, something nice and moderate that will grow steadily.

I user InteractiveBrokers. Only 1.00 per trade. If i do mutual funds and other investments then i exclusively use vanguard.

There are multiple index funds and if you signup at vanguard they will describe them all and show you the 2-3 year + values of such.

 

I've gotten about 22% return on my REIT fund (home sales) and of course the core indexes have done great with the market breaking 12k.

I have used Scottrade for years and have been very happy with them.

 

This year I opened an account with TD Waterhouse which is now TD Ameritrade. They are OK and they have some really good research tools.
