We are getting our car repoed. We are way behind and the bank will not work with us. DH's scores are low 500's and we have a bk 7 discharged in Aug 2004. He just started a new job last week. Same industry for 7 yrs. Our checks kept bouncing with old employer and then he just did not pay us. We got in a financial mess and are working our way out. Our car was the last thing to catch up but it is too late. The repo man was here today while we were out. Since we live in Texas we have to call tomorrow to have him pick it up. My husband's work would fire him and he could not work in that industry with a felony arrest on his record. Please help if you can. My scores are a bit better but I don't have proof of ID right now. I have lost my id and owe fines so I can't get it replaced until I pay them. I have photo copies but no one would take them when we tried to get a car in the past. Our next step is tote the note and I would love to avoid those. We can make our payment now it is just getting caught up that we are having a problem with.

From what you shared, it sounds to me as if your situation is too far gone today to be able to prevent the repo and related repercussions from it short term. After the repo, financing a car in the immediate short term is unlikely.

I'd suggest paying cash for a bare bones basic style car and immediately begin to both repair your credit and find ways to stash / save money for the future. In time, with improved credit scores and some savings, you'll be in a much better position to shop for a better vehicle.
