Hi everyone,

I am new here and not sure what to do or where to look.

We just received a letter from a CA that is for a old hospital bill that my husband had before he and I were married. The letter is actually addressed to him and his exwife.

The bill we think is 7 to 8 years old and is for about $7,000. We live in Missouri. What is the SOL for medical debts in Missouri?

He thought this bill was gone, he isn't sure but he thinks the hospital sued and had a lien put on his property. He then let the property be foreclosed on and never new what became of the lien. He divorced his wife.

He and I have now been married 5 years and are living in a different place.

Should we see a lawyer, call the CA or what?

thanks

Netty

Have your husband ( and you) obtained your credit reports?

Check to see if there is a filed judgment against him.

Opt out, and get your old addresses deleted.

DO NOT EVER call a CA, all they do is LIE.

If the letter is addressed to your husband at an old address, and was forwarded to him at your current address, I suggest you do NOT reply,as it is likely from a "garbage" CA who has picked up the information from OLD records.

The SOL is 4 Years in all States for a medical/hospital bill.

IF it was addressed to him at your CURRENT address, send the CA the cease and desist/validation/dispute letter from my website.

Thank you Why Chat,

The letter was addressed to him and his ex but was mailed to our current address.

I had a copy of his credit report that we got back in July, this old debt was nowhere on it and I didn't find the judgment either.

Do you think I should get a new credit report?
