I'm sorry to post an arbitrary topic, but I have read so many threads with reference to a 'Texas mother' thread/topic regarding texas collection laws, yet I cannot find said topic when I search. One poster said it was 'pinned' but I do not see it. Can someone please link me to the thread?

Thank you!

Well, I found that thread, but I'm not sure if that's correct. Every person referencing the topic refers to it as the "Texas Mother" topic/thread. Apparently it's loaded with good content regarding the TFC. Every person that refers to it as the "Texas Mother" and they tell people to search for "Texas Mother".

For instance, this thread has this:

You are in LUCK. If you didn't during your last turn on the boards, start reading the Texas Mother Thread. It's in the pinned threads on the credit forum. Read, and Re-read. After you have Re-read, THEN start asking us questions. Your issues can be solved with the strongest state consumer laws in the nation on your side.

Another Note: Centerpoint will pay for delete(I did that, bill was only $48). I have the contact if interested. I will direct Texas Man Cprems to this thread as well. We can point you in the right directions...

Also(and again, I know you aren't a newbie), becasue Texas laws are so specific and different than what others on CB are dealing with, put Texas in your thread title. It will help weed out well meaning, but not applicable, advice from CB members living outside Texas.

I understand your frustration.

In order to do this correctly and make sure that your consumer rights are properly protected, you need to read the TFC392 and ANY threads with the header Texas.

I would also read this thread from front to back - http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=240327

This is what is referred to as the Texas Monster/Mother thread. Once you have read that and understand what is required, then and only then are you ready to send out a DV - Texas style.

Also read any posts from waltg55, Centex, myself, Ashlia and other Texans. (If I left your name off the list, it is purely unintentional)

Long winded DV's are IMO, unnecessary.

You only have to cite the TFC392, state they need to validate the debt and if they can't you demand deletion. I also state all calls are inconvenient and I include my cell phone and revoke consent for them to call. All in all, my DV is about 2 paragraphs.

Here is what I found.

Thank you. I've been reading through the thread now, and after about 8 pages people started referring to it as the Mother of all Texas threads. Maybe the MODS could retitle the thread to include that in the title. Thanks again for the help.
