okay, so I got scammed into one of those gym memberships where it's a retail contract and they make it impossible to cancel with all the hoops you have to go through. I finally gave up since they were auto billing my credit card and canceled the card. They continued to attempt to bill me and sent me collection letters after explaining to me over the phone how to cancel (I complied with their request).. yet they keep sending me letters saying that I haven't properly canceled according to their terms.. also said I had to be paid in full before I could cancel.. whatever.. Anyway, the debt racked up to $600+ or something and it now went to a collection agency called Merchants Interstate. My question is, can this be reported to the credit bureaus if they don't have a social security number on me? Can they take me to court over it and get a judgment? The original contract had mandatory arbitration rules.. what options do I have here? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

I am starting to this that ox publishing is a scam. All of these users who say it's good are only posting once or twice. Has anyone here really ever used them and had a good/bad experience either recently or in the past? I'm talking about the personal credit lines and business lines. Thanks, Ryan

Anyone have suggestions on current offers for 0% intro cards with high limits? I got a CrapONE card last month and they're already reporting incorrectly; so I'm looking for some other cards to add to my arsenal. My FICO actually RAISED 20-30 pts after opening the card for one month (I'm at 792 & 779 now).. so CrapOne approved my 0% Intro APR for 12 months. I found a link earlier to USAA's 0% for 12 months card on here but for some reason I can't find it. Could anyone find it? and are they a good bank? Thanks, Ryan

Would it be wise to dispute with ChexSystems if you have "No Debt information available" when you in fact owe the reporting bank zero? I have an account from just over 3 years ago that says this and it's making it nearly impossible for me to open a bank account. I disputed the actual item back when it came onto my account and it came back as 'verified' even though in the explanation to me, it said that I in fact owe zero. Stupid ChexSystems data entry people? Should I dispute the item in whole again or just do the balance? or should I dispute the whole thing again, and if that fails, do the whole thing again? Thanks, Ryan

Since when is "Pay for Delete" against the law? Isn't it the credit bureaus' discretion to regulate themselves within the law? I have not read anywhere in the FDCPA or FCRA that states that this is an illegal activity. I've had creditors and CRAs remove items upon request in the past. Could you provide us with an actual line of law on the books, or case law which gives an example of this not being allowed?

I sent in a dispute like: Please review the following dispute: BANK NAME - (Account #: 51XXXX): 'Date opened.' Please correct or remove this. The CRA sent it back something like: 'The dispute process is complete. This account has been verified to belonging to you.' I called the CRA and asked about it and they said that they verified that the account belongs to me.. meaning they didn't dispute the 'Date opened', just that the account is mine. Does this mean that I can send in another letter stating that they improperly verified my request and have it removed? what type of ammunition do I have here? Thanks, Ryan

Hey everyone, I got a $2,000 credit limit on a CapOne card last month. It hasn't shown up on my credit report because it's only 3 weeks old. The inquiry on my credit report is from mid February, though. I was expecting a $15k credit line with my income, but my explanation for the low limit was because I was not using any of my old trade-lines for years. (A WARNING FOR EVERYONE ELSE!) Anyway, I already have the card at 90% utilization, but I can pay it in full today. Here's my question: I want a credit limit increase soon (using personal card for business purchases), but since I just got the card this month CapOne says they don't consider it until the 4th and 7th months. I think it's ridiculous that I can use and pay in full at least once per cycle no problem. 1. Should I apply for another card somewhere else to give myself another card or will the inquiry without a credit line with it look bad? 2. If I wait until the new card reports to the credit bureaus, should I pay it in full BEFORE the billing cycle goes through? or only go 30%? I'm not paying interest on any of the balance. I have a 0% APR for 12 months. 3. I'm not sure how their systems calculate credit usage, either internally or by using credit bureaus only. If they use credit bureaus only, does the credit bureau how that I had spent say $3,000 and paid off $3,000 on a $2,000 credit line without going over my limit? Would other creditors notice this massive usage and paying and it be beneficial to me? is this a good thing? I don't know because I haven't seen a credit report of mine with that kind of activity for almost seven years! Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! One last thing.. any suggestions on a 0% APR intro card for 12 months BESIDES the CapitalOne card? I did get what I wanted, seeing if there are any other creditors out there doing the same thing. Also, I need a new card and I should be getting a car loan. Any suggestions if this will mess up anything for me? My scores are in the 700's. Sorry for all the questions! Thanks again, Ryan

Has anyone here ever used the Centrro Credit Card Finder? https://www.centrro.com/results/cards/get_credit_score.php Edit by admin: This is a lead generator It looks like it does a soft pull. If it does, does this work with a frozen credit report or someone with a Fraud Alert? Thanks, Ryan P.S. Someone brave try it out and get back to me.. hehe

I've tried myFICO and it costs so much just to get a quarterly update on all three bureaus. Plus from the recent post about Experian to end their relationship with myFICO in the next week or so, it's pointless. See: http://credit.com/news/experts/2009-02-04/...artnership.html I've tried creditkarma.com but they aren't able to verify me because of the digits in my address, and also because I have a fraud alert on my credit file. I'm currently using TrueCredit, but they only update your FAKO (not real FICO I hear) every month... which is pointless. I've heard that ChaseID Protect works, does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for any input. -Ryan

Hey everyone! I am primarily self-employed. When I apply for a credit card, what are they going to ask of me, and how do they confirm my income? Need to make sure I have documentation because I have not filed yet for 2006-2008. Thanks! Ryan

Thanks for all of the valuable input, everyone! Quick question - Since I'm primarily self-employed now, are the credit card companies going to require proof of income with tax returns of some sort? I know that they call employers to confirm that you work somewhere.. can they ask how much they make as well? or is that illegal? Thanks, Ryan

Hello everyone! I have a mid credit score of 715 with only one open trade line, which is a student loan. I absolutely need to buy a laptop computer by the end of this month and I'm trying to decide which path of action to take. I also need a credit card to finance some business expenses (I am not incorporated, yet). I haven't applied for a card since 2001 I think, so my knowledge of how to do this correctly is tricky in today's time. Here's my situation: All three bureaus are frozen and I have a fraud alert on file. I need to thaw them first, and then apply for credit. Would it be wiser to apply for two credit cards and see what I get for credit limits? or should I apply for the credit card first, and then go with Dell financing? Which type of financing hurts my score more? Any tips? I don't know how much an inquiry will affect my score. Lastly, what's the DTI requirement? My monthly payments are a measly $115/mo, and income around $26,000 last year, but my income has already increased this year. Do I use this year's income on the application? do they check your filing with IRS like with a mortgage? and will self-employed be harder to get a card? Thanks for any input! Thanks, Ryan
